And that would be okay if he were to do so. Given the book's title and cover design however, I doubt that was the entirety of his motivation. (Okay, the latter was probably the publisher's idea. Still, he approved it.) It's a freaking US flag on a prehistorical novel!

That has to be the dumbest thing I've seen all day. And I had to put up with idiot coworkers all day too.

I was somewhat willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about it merely being speculative fiction, but his history and the little blurb about it being dedicated to the "real Native Americans" cast doubt on him having written the book simply to tell a story.
Edit: Actually, the title would probably have been enough to cast doubt on that, but with the other stuff, I'm even more skeptical.

I was somewhat willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about it merely being speculative fiction... Given what the SPLC says about him, there is no need to. www.splcenter.org/blog/2010/11/16/defender-of-hate-group-leader-campaigning-to-head-gop/Bristow’s MSU-YAF engaged in extensive racist activities. One of its first stunts was presenting a 13-point agenda that would have established a “Caucasian caucus” at MSU and, in turn, eliminated all student government representation for practically every other non-white, non-heterosexual, non-male or non-Christian student group at the university. Bristow was on record saying, “Homosexuality kills people almost to a degree worse than cigarettes. … these [pro-gay rights] groups are complicit with murder.” MSU-YAF sponsored a “Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day” contest, held a “Koran Desecration” competition, jokingly threatened to distribute smallpox-infested blankets to Native American students, and posted “Gays Spread AIDS” fliers across campus. Bristow’s YAF also brought several extremists to speak at the MSU campus, including Holocaust denier Nick Griffin, leader of the whites-only British National Party (for more on YAF, read here). The rest about Saul Anuzis, former RNC chairman candidate, is worth a read as well.

JUST BECAUSE SOUTH PARK MADE A JOKE ABOUT SARS INFECTED BLANKETS DOES NOT MEAN IT'S A GOOD JOKE TO MAKE IN REAL LIFE YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT. They always say "Oh bwahhh why come we can't say those things? Why are they not funny when we say them?" CAUSE YOU TWAT, listen to Lisa Lampanelli, people who are being joked about KNOW when one person is joking and one person is serious/has malice behind the jokes. THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT OKAY! HOW HARD A CONCEPT IS THAT How is he not in jail for that blankets threat? I'd use that as the excuse..holy hell... send this fundy to gitmo, use that as the excuse and if anybody questions it, use his other comments/ideology as further justification. It's hypocritical but it's hypocrisy I can live with. *uses his explosive rage to cause a stupid-whites apocalypse* *simmers down* *goes and finds some gay stuff to do*

The Solutrean Hypothesis isn't quite what I would call a "fringe" hypothesis, though I thought it merely had Europeans contributing to the peopling of the Americas, not beating the Siberians there.

"BAAAAAW white peoples can't joke like racist colored humans BAAAAAW"
If a black person started 'joking' about stringing whites up behind the barn, it wouldn't be funny. If a Native 'joked' about distributing disease-ridden necessities to whites, it wouldn't be funny. Why should it be funny if it's the other way around?

I'm hoping the book is doing one of those classic role reversals that South Park does--you know, one of those "see how you'd like it" moments. I'm hoping but I'm probably wrong...
I looked at the cover alone. Usually you aren't supposed to judge a book that way but, that rune symbol isn't just used by Pagans, it's also used by assorted white supremacists.

Also the author looks like Glenn Beck's secret clone.
