Go Ireland. If this were ever proposed to air in America, it'd probably be considered "too controversial/too explicit" or some shit like that.

In Ireland there are anti-drunk driving ads that say something to the effect of "Drinking and Driving? What are you, fucking stupid?"
Ireland ftw.

Ireland, you may have stupid abortion laws, and you may be a little behind in gay marriage... but you guys have accents, and you have alcoholic drinks, and you have this ad. WIN.

this = awesome! I think one of the liberal New England states (like, say, Massachusetts) could possibly do it, at least if it were a bit shorter, since it seems kind of lengthy to me for an American PSA--the ones I've seen are only 30-45 seconds long, but I srsly digress. Ironically, I think there would be a greater number of fundies elsewhere bawwwing over it, even though they would only see it by purposely subjecting themselves to it. As for going national with it (or taking it to the fundie belt), lolwutno.

I wish kids really would stand up for each other like that in real life. Not just for homophobic bullying, but any kind of harassment. Awesome ad

I think the ad is kind of cheesy, but it makes a great point, and it's fantastic to see the subject being dealt with openly.

I can just see the homophobes freaking out if that was ever broadcast on TV. "Boys holding hands! Think of the children! They are shoving their sexuality down our throats!" Completely ignoring how tame that anti discrimination advert really was.

My bad, it's 'asshole' not 'wanker'.

@ smurfetteprinciple
Actually, Civil |Partnerships are now in force. The first two men to avail of this new legislation are being partnered tomorrow in Dublin. They were on Irish TV's main Saturday night chat show last Sat evening. There were two or three other gay couples in the audience who are being partnered shortly. Obviously the first couple were the main centre of interest. Their slot on the show lasted for about 20 minutes. It was very well received across the country.
As a side note, my partner and I will be going to Ireland in September to get our process rolling. The legislation requires an interval of 3 months between giving notice of intent in person at the Registrar's Office and the actual ceremony. That would take us up to Christmas, and travel in Europe at that time can be tricky - witness the airport snow-closures on and off over a 7 week period from November last. After waiting for so long for this, we can wait until spring.

Didn't American's protest McDonalds because a chain in France released a pro-gay commercial?
Sadly, I don't see any ad's like this being aired here any time soon. Or atleast, not in my region.
