Yeah, why the push from the far-right to return to the gold standard? Is it just part of their general mental instability and inability to remember what happened 70 seconds ago, let alone 70 years (give or take) ago? Is it mostly coming from people with vested interests in the "Cash for Gold" companies? Something else? Or am I wrong, and there's only a few lunatic fringers who are making any overtures towards it? It's at least partly motivated by the belief that government shouldn't, ever do anything under any circumstances to help anyone. You can't even do fiscal policy because (as a Japanese central bankster said during a deflationary period) hyperinflation is totally just around the corner. It's political masochism.

Yeah my dad mentioned something about the dollar no longer being backed by the gold standard. I think he has bought some coins. Also told me to keep any pennys from 1982 (I think it was '82) because their copper is worth more like 3 or 4 cents. No industrialized nation on the planet uses gold standard anymore. Gold standard is fucking retarded. I'm not well versed in economics. If there isn't a gold standard, whats in place now?

No industrialized nation on the planet uses gold standard anymore. Gold standard is fucking retarded. Not that many nations used the gold standard when it was around, which was partly why it failed. Tying everything to the dollar got general acceptance for a while, until the US decided to break that system. The issue with any of these systems is that there's no way to stop anyone from saying "fuck this, I'm outta here".

Yeah, gold is pretty much a fiat value as paper money. The differences being gold is currently of finite quantity and is shiny and pretty.

I vote we make paper money holographic. Then we can try to convince people that you can tell it's genuine by if it has a penis behind the presidents' heads
