I had been planning on donating my hair to Locks of Love for a while, and I finally had enough inches to donate. So I did it. I'm sorry Cait and Sleepy, I won't be able to post my sexy pictures for you ladies for a while Anyone else donate their hair?

I did a couple years ago...they got three normal-sized ponytails off of my head, so while it wasn't quite 9 inches, it was enough to make them happy. >.>; I've kept my hair nearly or all buzzcut since then, so yeah...I think if I ever do it again, I'll ask if I can pay for the haircut and keep one ponytail, then sell that sucker.

I've donated my hair twice. It makes me feel awesome.
It would be three times, except my current donation is sitting on a bookcase covered in dust because we can't remember the name of the organization we're sending it to. Locks of Love sometimes makes people pay for their wigs, and I've heard of another organization who will give them to people in need for free. I just can't remember who they are.

When I was younger and not in my 'do not let my hair get even close to my earlobes' phase I'm in right now I donated often. I felt good. When my friend passed away from cancer I donated in his name. I know in the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter if you donate in someone's name but it matters to me.
I salute anyone who donates and wish it was a requirement to ask about donating in all salons, etc.,

I donated when I was in eighth grade. I don't know if I'd do it again - my hair was terribly thick, long, and unmanageable by the time I cut it.

I gave like eighteen inches when I was in high school. It was at first strictly charity, but it made me realize that I looked shitty with long hair and have had it above the shoulders since.

If you're intent on donating your hair, find a more reputable organization. Locks of Love has a shaky history. It borders on being a scam. In 2004 and 2006 it didn't meet the Better Business Bureau's criteria for being a charitable organization. Additionally, they sell or discard up to 90% of the donations they get--for being too short, too damaged/processed, to grey, to thin.
My suggestion is always this: cut your hair, then sell it. Take the money (it'll probably be a hundred or a few hunderd depending on how much you have and what kind of shape it's in) and donate it to cancer research.

I know of a website where people will pay 300-1000 or so, depending on the healthiness and length. >.> That's why I'm considering selling some of mine for teh monies...if only I didn't have to buzzcut it for interviewing potential roommates/it wasn't so damned hot around here.
Maybe when I move to Canada...
