Yeah I'm going to say that this is a Poe, no one can be that stupid. Right? I don't know. There was supposedly a Christian science book that claimed electricity couldn't be seen and nobody knew where it came from, so . . . .

I wouldn't call it a Poe just because I've been around here too long to handwave such crazy. I mean, look at RR.

You... can't explain toast? Silly Shane, of course you can. The toaster channels the power of Jesus into the bread, which magically turns it into toast.

This kind of crap is why I stopped posting in the Astronomy sections of Yahoo Answers. Edit: And on Y!A in general, really. Even the women's health section had fundie trolls.
Though I can understand not being familiar with the physics behind stars... I think the true stupidity comes from not researching this stuff before using it as evidence for your god.

Wasn't there some reasonably famous American who actually said stuff like that on TV? If I remember it was about how we could not explain the tides without god or something. Then he was called an idiot and made another equally stupid statement about something else.
With people saying stupid stuff like that on TV, I can honestly believe that people really are that stupid.

Must resist urge to go on a rant explaining exactly why 'hydrogen burning' is a fusion reaction not an oxidation reaction....
