I've always been told to keep on a schedule for how I deal with my various foot injuries. So I do. But the big problem is when one person (a doctor) says my foot is healing on schedule but my dad says no it isn't, it looks worse or hasn't changed. This has an impact on how I feel about it because it stresses me out thus, according to some, slowing the healing process even more.
I'm not entirely sure how much positive thoughts work with wound healing but I do know that depression can slow down the body's attempts to heal wounds. The thing is... just how much does having a positive outlook or at least good karma/positive thoughts go towards healing? (Good karma as in you're generally upbeat and nice and trying to build that good karma for your own bad situation as opposed to the bad karma of being mean to other people) Not to mention... how do you bloody well tell that one's outlook/karma/mental processes is slowing down the process and it's not just their body naturally being slow on the uptake of healing?
I tried to google but didn't really... get much of anything other than loony articles from less than reputable sources and I'm hoping someone has some more firm sources.
>.> Anyways, if none of this makes sense it's cause I'm exhausted and just wanting to post it before I forget it.

I can certainly see how you idea of "bad karma" can slow down the healing process, insofar as people who you piss off will actively seek to exacerbate your existing injuries or even add entirely new ones.

All I can think of is what I've heard about stress slowing healing, which does make sense to me. Stress is a motherfucker. I'm not sure that 'good' thoughts inherently help, just that having a decent mood makes you more likely to tend the wound(s) as closely as you need to be tending them which would obviously help them heal better, if not faster.
I dunno. I have a fucking headache due to stress. Stress can go fuck its own pretty pink ass.

Morale always seems to have an impact on the body.

If you're positive that your affliction is getting worse, is that a positive attitude?

I doubt that karma has any measurable effect on healing, but having a positive outlook does seem to for reasons we don't fully understand. Another thing that has an apparent effect on healing: being in, or being able to look at, nature. If you have a nice garden in the yard outside the window you sit by, you'll probably heal more quickly than if you had, say, a parking lot. It's called the Biophilia Hypothesis.

Thanks Vene. That definitely helps. And sates my curiosity as well. But yeah. I've always been told to not get depressed about healing even tho it is hard.

A certain amount of your health is always going to be placebo, which is probably why stress makes things worse and having false (though positive) information makes things better.

The reason appears to be because stress leads to a higher level of cortisol and that inhibits the regeneration process. That explains why.... I don't want to go!

*facepalm* I'm not even in the fandom and already I've heard way too much about that.

Also, I'm reading Goblet of Fire, and had forgotten that one of the last chapters was called "The parting of the ways" or something similar. Very similar to the name of the last episode with the prior Doctor/first one to have Doctor Barty Crouch. >.> COINCIDENCE? OR IS IT SOME SORT OF TIME LORD CONSPIRACY?

No, it's the Dr. Who fan base's fault for being too entertaining. Obviously.
I guess J.K. Rowling really IS a witch! Or maybe the producers are smart arses, as both that episode and that movie were released the same year and they just, you know, wanted to be clever.

I doubt "Russel T Davies" and "clever" come up together often. Which leaves us with Rowling being a witch. Personally, I blame the unforgivable curses. It was clearly an imperius curse that led to all this.
