The new series just premiered today, and I'm wondering if anyone else saw it.
I did. I can say that it not only lives up to its name, it might even surpass it.
Despite baring MORE skin, Cheetara doesn't look like a cheap skank anymore.
Tygra was made more interesting
Lion-O wasn't given cheap growth hormones either, being a bit more lithe and younger than his old muscle-bound kid-headed incarnation.
Speaking of which, said incarnation did the voice for Lion-O's father. Yes, he got to say "Thundercats, ho!" I imagine he was quite thrilled.
The plot is definitely darker and edgier.
Snarf doesn't speak anymore, yet this makes him a MORE interesting character. And good for comic relief. And manages to be accidentally competent.
Wilykit and Wilykat actually sound like children now.
Mummra's only change is that they added wings to his "Everliving" form. Other than that, he is exactly the same in his classic appearance, he even sounds the same. And he even has the exact same incantation to become "Everliving"
Lion-O is simultaneously more and less mature than his previous counterpart. He has his heads in the clouds, but he actually realizes this. Not to mention that it's said that the gift of "Sight beyond sight" is more than just seeing things far away or in the future, but also the ability to look beyond the ordinary. That being said, he's given the idiot ball a couple of times, and he sometimes deserves it.
Tygra, who is now Lion-O's brother (though if it's a full blooded brother or a half-blooded brother or brother in name only is hard to tell) is an arrogant douchebag, though to call him completely rotten would be incorrect. He does stick up for his little brother, and stuffs his ego away when there's stuff going on.
All in all, a great first episode. Unfortunately, they didn't play the theme song, so I can't judge that just yet. Will have to wait until next week. Otherwise, start speaking like Mordin. Require assistance.
