It seems Rapture Ready's been fairly quiet since the FSTDT relaunch, which may explain why I currently can't turn up anything when searching on this board for Amazonian river of lulz that is... ... The Rapture Index. For the unaware or uninitiated, this is the craptacular method by which RR judges when the Rapture will happen, conveniently rendered less credible by the fact that it has apparently been just around the corner for about the last ten years. Razor-sharp empiricism it ain't. Anyway, as of late April 2009, the funniest development is that it's up 2 points, purely because of swine flu. Apparently they really have fallen for the hype that badly.

IIRC, some of those they haven't updated in years. The "Gentleman in Florida claiming to be Christ" has been there since the first time I saw the index.

I can't believe people waste their time on this kind of stuff! If there is going to be a rapture isn't it supposed to be impossible for humans to understand God's plan for it? So why do they even bother trying to guess? Doesn't that show they are trying to outsmart their own deity? Isn't this all very hypocritical as well as being just plain dumb? Sigh...if I try to figure them out I think I'll go crazy!

I am not going to lie, i thought it was cute that they made a "Rapture Index." However, they are still on the idea that "the rapture is soon...."

They've been keeping it since 1990? I doubt it's ever been below "fasten your seatbelts"
So 19 years of waiting......waiting......waiting......
I'm amazed these people haven't dropped dead from the self-induced stress.

From what I remember, apparently the Rapture can only come when nobody is expecting it. So, the fundies are actually stopping it from happening by writing all these lists and 'Rapture-watching' all the time...
I wonder how they'r react if I told them that.

They'd ban you, probably. Then they'd post some Bible verses out of context and say you're wrong. To paraphrase a group of Rapture nuts: "The Bible says no man knows the day of Christ's return, but there are several Scriptures that imply Christians can know the day Christ's return"
Contradictions in the Bible? That's crazy talk

I saw them ban somebody for saying the rapture might not happen in our lifetimes, so yeah, you'd be banned for saying that.

So, the fundies are actually stopping it from happening by writing all these lists and 'Rapture-watching' all the time... I wonder how they'r react if I told them that. Fred Clark pointed out that the antichrist's dastardly schemes require people to remain ignorant of them. Otherwise they'd tar and feather the bastard the moment he lifted his head. Especially after a third of the population of the earth disappearing people would be willing to lynch anyone who looked like they might be the antichrist. So by spreading their message of the rapture and publishing their shitty rapture books, they are in fact ensuring that the prophecy they believe in will never happen.

Quite by accident I found a real bastard named Harold Camping (I think that's how he spells it) on the radio who is convinced, using the bible and prayer, that the rapture will happen the morning of May 12, 2011 (Israel time, of course). Seriously, the SOB has a radio call in show where he gives people advice to make sure they are of the chosen few who get raptured.

Question! How is dropping grain prices a sign of the apocalypse?

Question! How is dropping grain prices a sign of the apocalypse? Well, as I understand it, buying grain is inherently immoral, so when prices drop... No, wait. I was thinking about people. Buying people is immoral, not grain. So, yeah, I have no idea. They have it under "food supply" so I guess we're supposed to have a better supply of grain when the apocalypse comes..? I don't know, they tend to make me even more confused than I normally am.

There's something in Revelation about a loaf of bread for a days wages.
So I guess the Rapture was in the 1930's. Or currently going on in Africa.
