Maybe we need an episode of the tv show "Undercover Boss" where a politician has to go live like one of his poorer constituents. Let's see what kind of wonderful worker he is when he has to hold 2 jobs plus look after his kids, all without any kind of paid leave or affordable health care. Yeah, just go to the fridge for food. Just go to the bank for money - that's where it comes from right?

Again, they are not sociopaths. That lets them off too easily.

Oh my God, this is... this is vile. That's it, the US needs to become a clone of Europe immediately. I have had it with this nonsense. Saying this had better ruin the Teabaggers' reputation, or I will lose my faith in humanity.

I say we have show where teabaggers swap lives with those who they bad mouth for 2 months to 4 months, and see what if they change their opinion of those said people... brendanrizzo, I admire you, not even a month of watching just MLP:FIM could restore my faith in humanity that the teabaggers have stole from me...

One eensy problem is that the teabaggers (not the politicians, mind, but the average people who support them) typically ARE the kind of people whom they badmouth-- unemployment, Medicare, Medicaid for their kids, food stamps, SSI, a lot of them seem to get these benefits.
I'm all for the politicians having to live like the poor, though. Not sure if it'd get through their biased little skulls, but hope springs eternal.

Fuck, take away the teabagger's benefits from all the social programs they decry, take away all access to anything remotely related to socialism and we'll see what tune they start singing.

The arguments that I've seen aren't that they earned them, but that it's only fair for them to get them. It's fair for them to get them because they've paid in to the system for all these years, but screw everyone else.
A bit different, but still boils down to "fuck you, I got mine."

I was gonna say, making them assume the life of those they badmouth would basically be a null step anywhere if not a slight step up from where they are now. Teabaggers are just rabidly stupid people that fall for the same old shit over and over

A comment under the article on the Huffington Post site: Yes, poverty is a choice... really. And yes, being poor is enough to be wished dead.

Regarding the comment:
Go to school, which is public, get a degree, which is socialism unless you're rich, get a business by using largely publicly funded roads and publicly funded work force, and do your share by paying back to the system that helped you. If there are societal leeches, it's those who refuse to pay into the public resources that they've use to get them far. Much like the person making that comment.
Dictatorships: Iran, North Korea Socialism: Norway, Canada
That's quiet a large pool to choose from, buddy.
