Mostly just C/C++, PHP and Perl. I have in the past learned Java, COBOL (OH GOD WHY THE HELL DID I DO THAT REALLY DIE IN A FIRE DIE DIE DIE), VB, and enough of various scripting languages to do one project and then forget about it. And probably some other things that I'm forgetting so hard that I've forgotten I ever knew them. And Processing if you consider that a language. Markup languages are not programming.

I too am in the I don't give a flying fuck camp. I'm not a font nerd even for graphic design, but I can appreciate some nice typography for graphic design even if I don't obsess about it. For programming, as long as it's fixed-width I really couldn't care less, and even variable-width is fairly unlikely to bug me in 99% of situations.

Thus far I've had DAYS of successfully being able to read threads while not posting anything at all. I wonder if I'll ever get banned for being a "hidden troll". I love the idea that someone can be "trolling" while not saying anything. Oh words, if only you had meanings.
I am greatly tempted to start posting, but only ever post direct Bible quotes and never actually say anything of my own at all. I wonder how well that would go over to that group of "Biblical literalists".

Additionally, the dislike is a historic passdown. The Protestant movement was specifically a rejection of Catholicism, and as such the demonization of Catholicism was strong in its infancy and has continued to be passed down. This is evidenced in some of the severe hypocrisy with some of the complaints (e.g. Catholicism is polytheistic because they revere the saints, but Protestantism is not even though they also believe in angels and demons and the Trinity and Satan).
Some Protestant groups (see Primitive Baptists and some on the loopiest end of Southern Baptists) like to claim that they are not a Protestant group and have nothing to do with the Protestant movement. This is of course clearly historically inaccurate, and I believe demonstrates an unwillingness to realize that a lot of the problems with Catholicism are purely because they descend from Catholicism.
The Catholics, however, are not really the first Christians, though they are the oldest continuous Christian tradition. There were (probably) early Jewish Christians, some older Gnostic Christians, and most likely some completely lost traditions. The idea of Catholicism is completely meaningless before Constantine and largely meaningless before the first Council of Nicea, which specifically rejected the other contemporary Christian sects.

Lonelocust: You look like my best friend. Colourful dredlocks and all. This is kinda creepy. Weird. I almost never have anyone tell me that I look like someone they know. I think I can count the times in my life on one hand. Now I want to see a picture of your friend. She doesn't live in Washington DC does she? The last person who looked like me that was discovered was there. :-) Thank you muchly. :-)

I don't know how any one of them could hold down a job, much less be employed if they're in any way linked to that group of retards It's my theory they live off some fortune and tax loopholes...i almost wonder if the IRS was to really dig into the members, how many tax cheats would they find IIRC Shirley and a few others are lawyers and one of them is an aerobics instructors. Fred Phelps was also a lawyer before he was disbarred in the late 70s for perjury after going crazy on a female court employee in court and dwelling on her (hetero)sexuality. He was, strangely enough, a civil rights lawyer. I have heard, but don't have a legitimate source to back up the claim, that a lot of their money comes from lawsuits. I imagine that it's pretty easy for their vitriol to spur people to illegal acts and law enforcement to illegal denying of their freedom of speech or assembly.

Just because no one has explicitly hit these points yet in the thread.
You are perfectly welcome, legally and as far as most everyone who disagrees with you is concerned, to have your forum. You are allowed legally to ban people who have never posted, to ban people who have posted politely, to say that a section is for atheists and then ban atheists who only posted in that section, etc. I would gladly fight for your right to do so if anyone challenged it legally. No one has any fantasy that the forum doing so is anything that is not allowed. Your freedom of speech allows you to say just about anything, including things about how people are trying to take away your freedom of speech by disagreeing with you (and while I have no idea who "you" singular are, I will gladly provide links to places where others on RR have said such things if you desire them. I mean "you" plural, but refrain from "y'all" or "yinz" at this time.)
Freedom of speech is a red herring, as no one has said the government should do anything about the fact that atheists can't post, or that you can ban anyone you want for any or no reason. Saying that one finds such bans personally, morally, or ethically offensive is not akin to saying that you are required to agree with us. Discussing the sociology, psychology, irony, humor, or personal reaction to your choice to enact such bans is also completely irrelevant to freedom of speech - other than that said freedom of speech which lets you talk about anything you want there allows us the same privilege.

As I said previously, I didn't even post one line (and I tried to sign on with Liz, not Antichrist). Maybe they thought Liz = Lez = Les = LESBIAN OMG!!!! EVIL DEVIANT CHILD-MOLESTING FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother, who is a fundie (and I wouldn't be surprised to find her on RR), in fact told me some time in my childhood that after she made my middle name Elizabeth she worried that I would one day want to go by it because it can be shortened to "Liz" or "Lizzy" which sounds like "Lez" or "Lezzy". (Oh yes, I am not eve kidding a little bit. I demonstrate here the truth of Poe's Law.)

I have joined RR twice. The first time I used a random name. I was insta-banned. As in, I never posted anything. I got a message that I was pending approval, and then a message that I was permanently banned.
I have joined again, this time with an explicitly fundie-type name. I have still not posted, but all was smooth with my joining. I mostly wanted to be able to read threads that said I had to be a logged in member to read.
I continue to be confused about the instaban time. The username was actually a Sindarin word, but I didn't expect anyone who wasn't an uber-nerd (which I don't expect on RR) to recognize it as such in order to think that only the minions of Satan would read books about elves.

Come on, people, don't you remember that I'M the one that started the eye-photo trend! Cos I have the coolest eyes on FSTDT. Except Mattias's are really lovely. I'm a sucker for eyes--that's like the first thing I notice on people. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The Invisible Pink Unicorn is still way better than the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Even though you're making a kinda unflattering funny face , I think it's fair to say we can add one more entry to the "FSTDT has the best looking women on the internet" file. Aww, thanks. I'm all flattered. Maybe I should have used this more flattering but still relevant-to-FSTDT picture. Oh, and now to comb the rest of the pages of this thread for hotties. It's a long night at work.
