Their actions may not be treasonous, but they have broken international and American law. Both the UN and the US have placed sanctions on Iran. Of course, I wonder how many Teabaggers know about the Iran-Contra affair.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted. (From the Constitution of the United State of America, Article 3 Section 3) I am not sure that they did anything that actually counts as treason. We're not necessarily friendly with Iranians, but are they technically an enemy? And is engaging in commerce the same thing as giving an enemy aid and comfort? The answer to both of these has to be an unequivocal "yes" or I don't think it can qualify. Fairly sure the money would count as "aid" in "aid and comfort", and we're not friendly with Iran, though I don't know how we stand officially. Prett sure the "aid and comfort" thing only counts if your actually at war with the other guy. I don't think using them for cheap political point scoring and a "usual suspects" general purpose villain to point at counts.

Well, ol' Dubya did say Iran was part of the Axis of Evil, so they're an enemy when convenient for the GOP.

But what about Reagan's involvement? Then wouldn't it be some kind of holy mission?
