I've always wondered why, exactly, conservative people seem to like same-sex schools so much. I mean...you know...if it turns out that your kid wasn't 100% hetero...

Very few private schools are single-sex.

Very few private schools are single-sex. I'll say your right, but my conservative friends are Catholics and come from single sex Catholic schools.

If anything, single-sex schools just make you more desperate.
Which results in sneaking out at night to find a suitor/<insert female version of suitor here>, or even worse, experimenting with the same gender! *gasp*
EDIT: For some reason, my mind automatically defaulted to female same-sex schools, not male same-sex schools.

Hmmm. While I can't say I'm surprised, I'm a bit intrigued, as it was the opposite for me. I went to a co-ed high school and a single-sex college, and I have to say that my college experience was far, far better than my high school one. Granted, our graduate and professional schools were co-ed, but undergrad was all female.
Maybe it's because I was bullied a lot more by my male peers in high school than I was my female peers in college. And I was a lot more sexist in high school--I got much, much better in college.

All the commenters in the article seem to be gushing about all girls schools, with a couple of them saying that they'd send their daughters to a single sex school, but would never send their sons to a single sex school.

Well, of course. Teenage girls who want to sleep with boys are nothing but filthy sluts, while teenage boys who want to sleep with girls are perfectly healthy. Plus we can't be putting the boys in a position where they could turn gay. And there's no such thing and lesbians.

The majority of private schools in the UK are mixed sex. I know of only two single sex ones, one of which is going to start being mixed sex as of next year.

Granted, our graduate and professional schools were co-ed, but undergrad was all female. This is useless. You have two variables changed, not just one. It could be a better experience because it was college instead of high school, or it could have been better because the ages of the students were different, or it could be due to the same sex environment. Hell, you could easily have one variable making it worse, but another variable making it better to such a degree that it's a net gain. But, this means that it could have been better if the negative variable was not present. Gah! Stop adding variables! That does it, I can't draw any conclusion from this post.

I have heard from multiple second-hand sources that all-girls Catholic schools are hotbeds of lesbianism. I'm wondering how true this is.
You know, for science.
