Not to mention hell isn't even biblical. If anything, it seems to indicate that the punishment for failing to check the right box is more of a "final death" than anything. Which is still fucking disproportionate. Although eternal life in heaven doesn't sound all that much better. All day, every day, you get to sit around praising god, having been made "perfect" (read: forcibly reprogrammed) so that you celebrate the people who have been thrown into hellfire/killed/whatever. Not to mention that living forever would be torture for a sentient being. An extraordinarily long life would be wonderful -- I'd love to explore every nook and cranny in the universe -- but once you've learned everything, you still have an eternity of boredom ahead of you. Even joy would become mundane after a while.

Even if their monstrous god was real, I don't see how it would deserve worship. Fear perhaps, but not praise.
