You gotta give the guy credit. Your average fundy Christian hasn't even touched the bible, while these kids are being encouraged to read the Koran. They wouldn't bother using the free hand for education when it could be used to steady the gun. They're actually forced to memorize it. In original Arabic. So prayer recitals are very rarely judged on who want memorize verses from the Quran, but they have to also "sing" it melodiously; usually since many children can read off verses with rote memorization, they tend to be judged on the beauty of their voice. NEVER have I seen a contest where the contestant is actually judged on interpretation of the verse itself. I'm not even sure if they understand the Arabic, or they're just pheonetically memorizing the verse like someone singing in a foreign language.

I thought they already did. Oh wait, no, we just beat our kids if they Can't recite their Bible versus. At least they believe in positive reinforcement. Ironic, considering their group is pretty much founded on the idea of negative reinforcement. No it isn't. It's focused on punishment. Negative reinforcement: withholding a privilege when the person being disciplined does something wrong. Punishment: Doing something unpleasant when the person does something wrong.

Punishment is a form of negative reinforcement. Not to mention, you could say they're withholding the privilege to not get blown up by religious nutters.
