Wow. The only other successful petition I have ever signed was a recall petition for my State Senator. Though I would like to know why we even have petitions, since they never work. More or less what this petition is about.

All that honesty takes the fun out of signing a petition and feeling special. Its like writing a letter to the editor and thinking you are somehow stopping crime.
Would be nice if petitions worked though.

[Source: the responses already up on the site] Correction: any petition that runs against their predetermined political position isn't going to get a serious response (that, or just a "no" like with the marijuana petition). But if there is no position (possibly because the White House isn't really aware of the issue), then they might get a positive response.
