A lot of the protesters do come from the same demographic as the moratorium protesters The anti-Vietnam protestors* were disproportionately veterans, disproportionately minorities (African-Americans, women), largely poor, mostly ill-educated, or manufacturing workers. They were also mostly youngish-middle aged. I think OWS might be a little better-educated, a little more wealthy, whiter, less millitary and a little older. *Not sure about moratorium specifically.

David Brin neatly skewers both Millers revisionist pseudo history and his sneering neo fascism in one fell swoop. Well done sir!

OK, a rather different demographic then. I believe this only strengthens my point against LHM's contention that the OWS movement is in any way aping the Vietnam Moratorium movement.

personally Id like to see an uber-dark and horrific take on Batman. He's a lunatic who arms a child to get them to battle crime.. you could do a really good, depressive and interesting take on batman.
Frank Millers not the guy to do it though. Fucking brain donor

So, I read up on Sin City & you guys were not kidding. Every "strong" female character was centered around sex--heroines were prostitutes, antagonists were seductresses. I'm not implying a sex worker can't be a strong character, I'm implying that it's usually not contingent on that.

For a long time I assumed that the apparent misogynism in the Sin City was a result of a dystopic world where women weren't given a chance to be independent and active unless they abandoned the society like the whores of the Old Town had done. I interpreted the fact that these women were forced to be whores to survive was an expression of how fucked up the world is. Then I read up on Miller and his other works and realized that it's the author who is fucked up.

I wouldn't have bought it any way, because there are too many straight-laced male characters.

Now, I would rather not support Miller in any way.

Also, don't the prostitutes like run Old Town? Why are so many of them still prostituting?

Also, don't the prostitutes like run Old Town? Why are so many of them still prostituting? 'Cause they need people coming there in order to support themselves? I've only ever seen the movie, but Old Town seemed to basically be wall to wall prostitution and nothing else illegal business wise.

They run it, so even if they decide to base their economy around prostitution, surely they don't all have to.
Really, I don't see why anyone would have to, they had enough control over Old Town to kick out all of the pimps & take over, they could do pretty much anything with it.
Somehow, I just find it unrealistic that 100% of prostitutes want to stay as prostitutes.
