So i was watching tv earlier and a commercial came on talking about a prediction and to go to this website to see a video explaining what the hell they were on about. Rolling my eyes I went anyway knowing the stupid I would find. Its not as crazy as some of the CSTDT posts but I thought it was worth showing to see what you all thought. My reaction was anger of the video not getting to the f-ing point. Once I found out what it was I realized they don't know how money works and stopped watching before the end of the video.

I'm amazed by the fact that there actually are people out there who would give this guy money.

If the shit was to hypothetically go down...and I mean, really go down as in end-of-the-industrial-age go down as a lot of these sites predict...then gold is pretty much the last thing I'd want to be left with stockpiles of. If I was to have metals at my disposal in that sort of survival scenario I know I'd want the ones that could at the very least be worked into primitive utensils or weapons, not gold which the case for seems to boil down to "ooh, shiny". That's the inherent contradiction none of these sites are coming to grips with.

It's a very selfish belief, isn't it? The world is ending! Whatever shall we do? Help people prepare for the worst, actually try to prevent that apocalypse? Nup, cash in.

That's the inherent contradiction none of these sites are coming to grips with. Living next door to Zimbabwe and seeing the results of an economy going completely belly up, I can tell you right now that the 'assets' I would invest in would be a stockpile of food and water, a decent weapon and lots of ammo. Gold and any other crap is useless when everyone is hungry and there are no stores with anything in anymore. The only people well fed there are the thugs in the government, their lackeys and the few small farmers who can look after themselves. However, America is nowhere near that kind of disaster. The lands are still too fertile for exploitation for the corporations to give it up yet.
