I absolutely cannot stand this. Displaying the American flag upside-down is supposed to be a distress signal...as in actual distress, not "Help I'm being oppressed by x!" The flag code says: "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."
Now because of these morons, anyone who is in actual distress and needs to signal this via the flag (particularly in military operations and on ships) may be mistaken for some loon protester. The integrity of the signal has been compromised.
Anyone who displays the flag in such a manner should receive a visit from the police. When there is no emergency, they should be billed for their services. It's no different than shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater.

cestlefun, who ever still communicates with a flag like this? Even if ships and military operations do, they are hardly in the same context as some militia guys on the country. I'm not saying you're wrong, but maybe you take obscure sections in the flag code a bit too seriously?

No neighbors that I'm aware of, but I have a cousin that used to be a lot of fun, laid back and just really great to hang out with. I don't think she could have ever been described as liberal, but she wasn't ridiculously conservative either. Now she's a joyless, foaming-at-the-mouth right winger and Bible thumper who posts nothing but pro-Reagan inaccuracies, anti-Obama/Democrat/liberal copypasta and Jesus spam on her FB feed and if you so much as breathe a word in criticism of the police (she's a cop), she'll tear you a new one because they're such brave, selfless heroes who live only to keep the public safe (yeah, the Occupy protestors would like a word with you on that). She's not quite at gun-stockpiling, rebel flag-flying, President-threatening levels of batshit, but considering how quickly she went from cool person to annoying conservotard, I figure it's only a matter of time.
I miss my cousin. The pod person who is masquerading as her can go eat a bag of dicks.

It sucks when once cool people turn into pod people, my one aunt is like this. She was a normal person when she lived near by, but since she moved to Missouri, she has turned into a teabagger, who bitches about "big gov't" & socialism being evil, but at the same time she wants her mother to have access to decent gov't social programs.
