Oh yes, Mr. Rick I-dare-you-to-Google-his-name Santorum has stated, indirectly, why Americans are better off with as little Gov't help as possible: because suffering is a part of life.
(He talks about around 0:40, but it's worth it to hear the whole thing)
First off, suffering my be part of life, but that doesn't make it a good thing.
Second, he may be teaching us about humility, which is a good thing, but there's a limit to how much we can suffer, otherwise we get depressed to the point of suicide.
indecently, he says, not in his own words, that kids who are being paid are spoiled. So wouldn't be a good thing to, oh I dunno, tax the rich job-creators then, and let them suffer a bit?...

Kids who are being paid...as in kids who have jobs or allowances?
Ironbite-I'm confused here.

And...that means what exactly?

And...that means what exactly? Epiritu santi, Amen.Catholic priests are protectors of the unborn and rapists of the living. I'm sure that has something to do with a prevailing morality amongst the "righteous".

Vote for me, I'm indifferent to your suffering. Great sales pitch if there ever was one. Terence McKenna said everything that needed to be said before he passed away: "Man was not put on this planet to toil in the mud, or the god who put us on the planet to toil in the mud is no god I want to have any part of. It is some kind of gnostic demon. It is some kind of cannibalistic demiurge that should be thoroughly renounced and rejected." ~ Terence McKenna

Funny how someone who is well off is saying this... I'd like him to make a list of the suffering he has endured. That's why he's a Catholic hero. A true martyr.

It's easy to think of suffering as a romantic concept or to lessen the effects of it when you are a well-of politician who doesn't have to suffer.

Let's watch Santorum go through the bullshit I have to go through just to make sure I don't have to try to sleep hungry, or to avoid going to class on an empty stomach.
