I think you all should see this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLYgs0xMDm0&feature=feedlikBasically, if this bill is passed, the government will have the power to shut down (by which I mean completely remove) any websites which so much as mention copyrighted content. Literally nothing would be safe, not even Google or Facebook. It's pretty much the most draconian intellectual-property bill I've ever heard of. Even a single offense would warrant the total removal of a website from the Internet forever. In other words, if this law is passed, it'll suck. Oh, and by the way... due to how this site works, FSTDT would probably be among the first to go.

Hey brats who think it's your given right to pirate products, this is for you. You pushed corporations to this point, so enjoy it.

I like how people are screaming "Communism!!!" at this even though Communism would bring about the exact opposite.
But still, people want the whole copyright and capitalism thing, this is enforcing those rules.

Piracy will continue. The only way to stop weeds from growing once and for all is to salt the earth. Too bad piracy is a fungus.

Isn't that unconstitutional? yes it is. If it passes, It will be upheld by the Supreme Court - the first amendment doesn't allow for the theft of intellectual property. That fact has already been settled by previous cases.

That fact has already been settled by previous cases. of course it will be upheld if it passes but that still dose not make it right to censor people who want to sing there favorite song or draw there favorite cartoon character. and plus it will destabilize the internet and may cause more damage than good.

It pisses me off that purely American interests can basically fuck the entire internet. If this bill was in effect during the Arab spring dictators would have had a whole new avenue to crush dissent with the willing and overarching support of the US government!

And there goes the ENTIRE fanfiction genre. And the internet commentary genre. And basically the whole Internet. Are these people so stupid that they don't get this?
