There seems to be a similar movement in New Zealand, because I'm getting these posts from a alt-med freak (I keep her on my friends list for this).

Is there a religion that forbids vaccinations?
That being said, I've had it with people claiming that they got the flu from the (optional) free flu shot that comes out every year. Most of them claim that they're getting injected with LIVE flu viruses, and refuse to consider any other options. This includes health professionals, who have a lower percentage rate of flu shot vaccines than the general population where I live. Sigh....

Jehovah's Witnesses
Ironbite-also they forbid blood transfusions.

But...why...
No where in the Bible does it say "Thou shalt not immunize yourselves, thus leaving yourselves vulnerable to the diseases I have created to punish you for your sins"
At least 'no blood transfusions' can be understood, since it's a literal taking of "Don't take other people's blood"
JW are weird....No Christmas (Jesus wasn't born that day) No Easter (Too Pagan, oh, and Jesus wasn't crucified on a "t" cross, it was an "l" pole!) No birthdays (Only Bible birthday mentioned was the Pharaoh's, and he's a HEEEEATHEN!) And no Halloween (PAAAAGAAAAN!!! Oh, and we detest random people knocking on our doors) Man, it would suck to be a kid there.
Mind you, this is just what I've read from their pamphlets, so I may not have it all right.

Jehovah's Witnesses Ironbite-also they forbid blood transfusions. Calling bullshit. I was a Witness, and my parents vaccinated me without hesitation.

Most JW kids are taught (or rather brainwashed into believing) that their not missing anything.

Observation: You can't abort fetuses with autism (which is obviously why people do it), but you can't give children vaccinations because it will cause autism.
They might be getting live flu viruses & they might be getting it from the vaccine. Oh well. Fuck do they think's gonna happen if they don't use it? That they magically won't get the flu? And even if they do, I'm SURE the wild viruses will be so much weaker.

Just found the home of the NZ antivax movement. Whaddaya know, it's a bottomless pit of batshittery! Of course the NZ government should finance your right to send your pandemic incubator kids in to play with the others and spend extra money on health problems you could have prevented by getting the bloody vaccine! It's a matter of PERSONAL CHOICE! *headdesk, headdesk, headdesk*

It's a matter of PERSONAL CHOICE! *headdesk, headdesk, headdesk* I like to send this list ( whatstheharm.net/vaccinedenial.html) to antivaxxers. Because guess what, fucktards? Refusing to vaccinate when you are perfectly able to isn't a "victimless crime" like so many of you spout in a futile attempt to make yourselves out to be persecuted victims rebelling against The Man. Not just your children, but other people die due to this misinformation that you've lapped up. But then again, even if vaccines did cause autism, you'd probably rather have children be dead than autistic. Because god forbid your child end up "broken".

To be fair, autism isn't something you want your children to have. For high-functioning autistic people, it's not so bad- it can even be a good thing. But for the majority, it's a serious disease. In one-third to half of cases, autism seriously reduces their abillity to communicate. Many autistic sufferers unintentionally self-harm. It can hobble or end the possibility of independence.
Now I get the whole One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest thing. You don't want to criminalise difference, you don't want to turn a quirk into a disease. But, for many people, autism is a disease.
But that disease is not caused by vaccinations.

Ignoring the rest of your comment, the point is that not vaccinating your child "because it causes autism" is exposing them to health risks because you have somehow worked out that possibly being special needs is worse than possibly dying.
I contrasted this with abortion because that is the same damn rhetoric used against people who abort because of disabilities.
