Holy fuck.A church in Pike County, Kentucky has voted to ban interracial couples from being members, attending services, or participating in church activities because its members disapprove of interracial marriage. The pastor instigated this rule after one Stella Harville, while visiting her parents, tried to attend her former church with her fiance--who is from Zimbabwe. I just... what? What the fuck? How the hell does this sound like a good idea? I knew racism was still alive and well in a good many places but I did think that it was at least taboo enough that people wouldn't openly bar people of other races (or interracial couples) from certain places or activities. Obviously I was wrong. Holy shit!!!!

While it is a sad state of affairs that something like this still is happening in the US, it by no means is surprising to me. I'm not in Kentucky, but I am in the south, and this type of attitude is, unfortunately, rather common. I would suspect that the only reason some small rural churches haven't banned interracial couples is because none of yet dared cross their threshold.

I'm not defending racism, I'm defending people's right to hold views you disagree with. Remember they probably find your POV just as abhorent as you find their's.
Also, what is it we say anytime anyone gets in a flap about "forcing" churches to conduct homosexual marriage?
