I didn't hate Deadpool; I just didn't like that they made him Weapon XI. I'm curious as to how they incorporate that into his movie. I'm guessing either he keeps all the powers but gets back his mouth, he loses some of his powers, or it's a prequel. I'd prefer the second choice. He's going to get his mouth back, thats a given. I think that they are going to write in that his healing powers will overtake the others and basicaly get rid of them. Seems the smartest way to go.

Talking of Deadpool, why does Ryan Renolds look so damn young in this movie? He looks about half the age he did in Blade Trinity. He's also about half the size he was in Blade 3. He was seriously ripped in that movie - if I was gay I'd have totally hit that. It was the beard. And I liked his build in this movie. Thought he was a little to ripped in trinity. A beard can make that much difference? Never ntoiced such a difference with people I know in rl who've had beards and then shaved them off. Guess it's somethign to do with knowing them for long enough. BTW if I remember correctly from the DVD extras he was at something like 3-5% body fat in Blade 3. not relevant to this thread but I thought it would make me sound smart

A beard can make that much difference? Yep, if I shaved mine off I would look like I'm 14.

Katsuro: William T. Riker. The beard made all the difference...
So, hopefully we have a comic book geek here who can answer this, but what's the canonical story with Deadpool? What are/were his powers?

deadpool has strength agility, healing factor to an insane degree and can tell he's inside a comic I hope they incorporate that last part into his character in his movie. If done right, between the action and humor alone, this could be an awesome movie!

i worked out the issue with wolverine, they should have reversed sbretooth and wolverines roles (and made other changes). it makes the x-men movies about redemption and makes stryker not be a liar in x2. something like sabes and wolvey fight lots, join the team and woverine enjoys it alot. sabretooth eventually leaves (deciding that he should be a pacifist or something) and wolverine gets given a mission to bring him back. sabretooth wont fight back against his bro and is brought to weapon x where he is taken by stryker. wolverine does more work for them, being a bastard and at the end they want to do the weapon x on him but he doesnt want it so they send the uber-mutated sabretooth from x1 (whos mind didnt survive the transformation) against him. he crushes wolverine who gets weapon x'd and escapes- killing almost everyone there. he wanders the canadian wildness like an animal.

I don't know where you got the impression that Stryker was supposed to be a liar in X2, at least in regards to Wolverine. Yes, he lied and manipulated the President into giving him free reign, but in regards to Wolverine, the fact that the flashbacks they showed in X2 matched up to what little Stryker said made me think that Stryker was just being a manipulative bastard.
Also, your suggestions would have caused the uber-fans to scream even louder, because NOTHING about them fits the characters of Wolverine or Sabertooth in either comic or movies (Okay, I can't say as much about Sabertooth's character since he only appeared in X1 and Origins and had only one line in the former, but I stand by it). Based on what I know of the comic, I was quite happy with the portrayal of events shown in this movie, including the finale.

So basically Deadpool is Wolverine minus the angst and plus hilarity.

So basically Deadpool is Wolverine minus the angst and plus hilarity. More or less. I love Deadpool, and I was kinda disappointed by his bizarre workover in the film, but when he gets his own movie it has the potential to be fantastic, since he'll have his mouth back and he won't be a 'puppet'. Deadpool's pretty weird in that he's canon, but doesn't fit in with the rest of canon thanks to his constant fourth wall-breaking and general cartoonishness; kinda like Howard the Duck elsewhere in Marvel, or Lobo in DC. But, all three of them rock, especially when placed alongside 'normal' canon characters, so...

And yes, they do have differing versions of their backstories out there, but a few of the core principles have always stayed the same, such as Wolverine's attempts to be better than a savage animal, and the fact that Sabertooth is known for embracing his bloodthirst without reservation.

it fits because itd end with sabretooth as the hulking monster he was in x1 and wolverine would be the violent blank slate who'd bnecome a better person in the 3 x-men movies. the problem dramatically with the origins thing is that wolvrine is the hero and acts decently, it means he's got less of a dramatic journey afterwards.

The two characters I wanted to see most were Deadpool and John Wraith (Wraith's first appearance in marvel comics was cool).
I liked Wade and although Weapon XI wasn't impressive I hope the Deadpool spin off will be better.
As for Wraith... He wasn't bad. Will.I.Am's acting was ok and the character had few good scenes.
The movie was ok, I really liked Sabertooth and the story wasn' t bad. My only problem with the movie is that Wolverine didn't seem to actually do anything while working for Stryker. I guess we can just assume they only showed their last mission, but it seems like Logan joins the team and then immediately quits.
