For a while now, they have been harrassing school girls for dressing "immodestly". Methinks they should cover their eyes if the clothes of children offends them. Likewise, the Ultra-Orthodox have begun to clash with Israeli police. The heads have said its a small group of Haredi that caused the problem, but many Israelis are fed up with the privilege granted to the Haredi to do this.

This isn't surprising, since a lot of the Haredi REALLY hate the state of Israel and secular Jews.

Isn't that line technically from Jesus? Therefore, they don't need to pay attention to it!

Who are the Haredi, and why are they so priveleged, anyway? The Haredi are also known as the Ultra-Orthodox. They hold the balance of power in the coalition. I'm sure an expert here can explain the exact details.

In Israel, the Haredi is one form of Ultra-Orthodox (Extremely Conservative) Judaism (not to be confused with the Hassidic Jews in New York which are a whole different bags of nuts). Generally they socially clash with the Reconstructionist, Reformed, and Conservative Jews who are more secular (relative).
The Haredi are not taxed. They don't have to work and receive financial assistance. This has allowed their population to expand and influence Israeli politics.

Specifically they have consciption exemptions and study the Torah instead of working. They're also the fastest growing group due to their high birth rate.

Needless to say, this does not endear them to the rest of the populace.

Well then, I wish the sane Israelis luck in stopping the Haredim before they completely take over. I doubt they'll be too successful though.
