Okay, that is intensely creepy. And reading the comments just hurt my head. They just don't understand what's wrong with it. The problem isn't someone preaching, the problem is someone driving around, following kids, and trying to get the kids to get in the van with them! Hasn't that always been the problem? Fundies never see what is wrong with their own actions so they have to project the faults on to everyone else. They are luring kids into a van which is completely inappropriate. But since they are fundies and thus cannot admit to doing anything wrong EVER, they instead decide that it's the schools fault for "persecuting" them. It's the same as when they accuse gays of being hateful people who want to indoctrinate children. On some level they know that what they are doing is wrong. But they will never admit it so they have to make everyone else wrong instead. What sad pitiful creatures they are.

The comments sound like a debate between members of this board and RR. We should invite people from there over to FSTDT. As for the incident, I don't care if they're preaching William Blake, if someone leads my child to a van, they better hope the cops get there before I do. Oh yeah: I'll tell ya what, Pajama Boy - get your undies out of a bunch, and if you enjoy being a Christian, more power to you. God made religion the same Baskin-Robbins made ice cream - enough flavors to make everyone happy. Just do me a favor - when you tell me that Rocky Road is better than Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, don't keep on pushing it at me when I politely say, "thanks but no thanks." If FreedMike was here, I'd exalt him for that.

Oh, right, a religious one.

the more i think of this, the more i laugh. It is a serious matter yes, but just the fact that a church is doing this is making this funny.
If these people were handing out fliers and teaching these kids about breast cancer, people would be up in arms and calling for arrests. (i little out there, but you get the idea)

Its them liberals trying to make christians look bad... </crazy conspiracy fundie> I'm more concerned with fundies making people who lure kids into vans look bad. I jest. But it's hilarious that they would think this was a good idea. I'd like to hear some more details though. For instance, what exactly did they do to "lure" this kid into a van? It sounds really bad when you say it like that, I'm imagining this guy going "Hey little kid, I've got some Chick Tracts in the van, come for a ride with me and I'll give you one." But I suppose the reality probably wasn't quite that crazy.

It's the typical fundie tactic, bitch about persecution when they're caught going around parental boundaries to target children. It's similar to sending letters to homes of children in order to invite them to Primary.

Looking at the whole article, these people are insane. They're obsessed with preaching to kids in public schools. For the love of God, hole a shitty concert or something like a normal church. Public schools are not the right place to be proselytizing.
