ohhh this is gold!! the google banner was brilliant BUT i did read this on the RR boards and for once in their sorry lives someone was right. they posted:
"This thread caused a huge stir on another site, proclaimed non-believers. That in turn created curiosity. Which in turn brought a bunch of them here to see what was the big deal.
They then went back to their forum and laughed at us and made fun of us".
yes we did, and much chorlting was had by all here on FSTDT!!

When I saw the logo this morn i was like "Bleh, that's hardly a worthwhile logo." but man, these people are nuts I'm sure the don't have an issue and praise Google when it focuses on one of their religious holidays

I'd like to know how that logo represented evolution, and how it was offensive to Christians? Isn't it just a fossilised 'something' - looks like a reptile of some sort? Another case of fundie Christians finding offense in things not meant to be offensive, so that they can stick to the persecution agenda.

What Google did didn't put any particular value on the picture. They didn't actually say anything about evolution or creationism. They did what they often do; they put a representation of some recent event in their logo. They do the same with the Olympics, they had a picture of the LHC and so on. Their custom logos are just a glimpse into something famous that is going on in the world. So the problem is apparently simply that if you don't censor the parts of reality that the people of RR are uncomfortable with, you are disgusting. And in league with Satan. And liberal. And whatever else they said in that thread of fail.

Did I say he shouldn't? I generally have a distaste for all religions, but I want it to be perfectly clear that I implied nothing by that statement. And I didn't kill that hobo, either! Fuckin' Wisconsin state police department is ALWAYS trying to pin shit on me! My apology; I took your comment of "He may not fall away from Christianity, but I can't see him staying there" as as you saying that it would be an impossibility for him to identify as Christian and simultaneously not give a crap about evolution or the Google logo.

Of course it upset them. The fossil, Darwinius masillae, dubbed Ida after paleontologist Jørn Hurum's daughter, has both prosimian and simian traits, indicating that it may be an early ancestor of the anthropoid primates, including us. It may also be a close cousin without extant descendants, but it is still interesting, as it shows how these early primates looked. In any case, the existence of this fossil implies evolution, and as such it does not fit in the worldview of RR-members. Google sports this as a logo where millions of people can see it, it's like wawing a red cloth before the Raptards' eyes. They are in denial, and they want to stay there. Yup, just what I figured they'd do. LALALALA IT'S JUST A MONKEY THERE STILL AINT NO TRANSITIONAL FOSSILS LALALALALALALA DON'T FORGET ABOUT "NEBRASKA MAN"!!! FAKE!!! PIG TOOTH!!!!!! Yes, they would. Denial! But that post is funny when you read closer. "The fossil is a lemur OR a monkey...not a transitional..." Why can't this raptard make up his mind? Is it a lemur or a monkey?

Essentially, what I meant is that I don't expect anyone to convert over some fanaticism regarding a Google logo, but I do at least expect them to stop hanging out with that kind of crowd. Migrate to another Christian forum, or something, y'know?

What I want to know is, how the hell can a search engine be 'liberal'? It's not like it's a website with content slanted one way or the other, it just...brings up websites for you. I mean, if you put in the right search terms it brings up Rapture Ready...a site running some 'evil liberal conspiracy' probably wouldn't do that.

Heh, I thought about that, too.
The one thing I could think of is different search engines yield different results. So, if you were completely, ridiculously detached from reality, you could argue that the results are specifically filtered to maintain a liberal bias.
Or just say Satan does it.
Edit: As for Rapture Ready coming up in the results, obviously, this is just another example of how awesomely powerful Jesus is, by thwarting Satan's wiles!
(I'm gonna go take a steak kinife to my fingers, now....)

Look at which way most of their campaign donations go and what causes they spend their money on. Boycotting a company who throws the money it earns at causes you don't support makes plenty of sense.
