The question would be if such an opus would be financially and realistically feasible. The Dark Tower, just the seven books themselves, are winding, long, confusing, and there's so much you won't understand fully until you've read some companion pieces (Father Callahan for instance). And, even though a lot of people know Stephen King, only a true handful understand the Dark Tower universe and how the books tie into one another.
But I think, seeing Star Trek, I'm confident in J.J. Abrams' ability to turn something that is otherwise unfeasible into something commercial and excellent at the same time.
