Just wait. I'm sure that any day now some group will complain about how the movie promotes homosexuality. All it will take is one of them actually watching the movie and seeing Silhouette with her girlfriend.

I'm not even into superhero movies (I think it was Fantastic Four that did it), but Watchmen looks interesting if only because of plot.
And a point that I made re: Watchmen and what the local DJ said about how it should be rated NC-17: <Sarcasm On>Because movies are for children and people with children only. And us over-eighteens without children? Well, we can either put up with the latest kiddie flick or shut up.<Sarcasm Off>
Seriously. Are these the same people who said that Passion of the Christ was for all ages? Headdesk is no longer sufficient.

All it will take is one of them actually watching the movie and seeing Silhouette with her girlfriend. Yeah...but then they'll like it because eventually Silhouette and her girlfriend get murdered. At the murder scene, there's "Lesbian Whores" written in blood on the wall. The Fundie's will jizz their pants at the sight of that.

For those interested, Plugged In Online, Watchmen review. As usual they decry the sex and violence, then go off on what can be some of the most idiotic complaints I've ever seen put up in a review. Wow, sex were people were actually undressed and enjoying it!! All I have to say is that if this is all that required for the reviewer to think that the scene was graphic: Dude, you need to see, or partake of, a lot more sex. I saw the movie last night and the above mentioned scene comes nowhere close to my defination of graphic. Some of the more silly complaints, So, drinking wine at dinner and having a beer are now things that should not be seen in films? That eliminates about 99% of my DVD collection. Also, the movie takes place in 1985. In the real world their were quite a few people taking, IIRC, Laotril. Even though it was illegeal in the real world US. Anyway, The review is filled with inaccurcies ands out of context descriptions. My opinion, its not a superhero film for children. If fact, the threater I saw it in had warning posters around the ticket box telling parents that it there was graphic violence, language, and nudity in the film. But if your over 18 and can handle it, IMO, Watchmen is an excellent post modern look at superheroes and well worth the time to see.

I don't get whats wrong with the second review, the beer n wine one. Why are they complaining? It's so childish.

Anyway, my smart comments aside, from what I gather of the movie Manhattan doesn't go around nekkid the entire time. I haven't seen the film version yet, but even then...Why are we so scared of a non-erect, FAKE penis anyway?

He does for quite a few scenes, but it's never like blatantly offensive. Just a penis, sittin' there, being a penis. Not a big deal if you're an adult. Fundie's tend to have the maturity of a 12 year old, so I can see why they would be upset. (Ewww pee pees! Gross, mommy!!)

Not that I'm completely surprised, given the source material. But still, it shouldn't be that offensive. I often wonder if it's a lack of maturity or just a fear that if we see genitals, we'll all get hot and want to have sex. Which makes me wonder what the Hell goes in their minds. "EW! PENIS! PORNOGRAPHIC!" How did we get so afraid of our bodies, anyway?

Right, because this is bad: But this is totally appropriate: I know, right!? Fucking A! I saw the Watchmen last night. And yes, there were a few full frontal scenes, a few sex scenes but we're all fucking adults. Dr. Manhattan does in fact show his wang a few times, but it's not "waving in the breeze". This isn't a fucking kiddie movie, yes, but it doesn't AT ALL deserve an X Rating, unless you have the maturity of a 5 year old. Their beloved "Passion of the Christ" shows waaay more violence than Watchmen, by like ten fold. Though I did see someone stupidly bring their kid to Watchmen. I think either they thought that this would be just like the Fantastic Four or they're too lazy to get a sitter.

A more applicable complaint about the Halleujah scene is how the music and scene don't even mix up together.

And now our friends at RR express their opinions on Watchmen.

Though I did see someone stupidly bring their kid to Watchmen. I think either they thought that this would be just like the Fantastic Four or they're too lazy to get a sitter. Maybe it's just my experience, but there's always one idiot at every R rated movie who brings a kid around here. I should say, "always AT LEAST one." And they always sit near me and always get upset at the nudity, sex, violence, and profanity. My favorite wasn't an R-Rated movie, but when I went to see a Knight's Tale, this woman in front of us brought her four kids all under ten. After like five iterations of the word "shite," she got offended by Paul Bettany's ass being shown to her kids. Silly parents. But Watchmen, specifically, is being considered a "comic book movie," so it's no surprise people are going to bring their kids, despite the rating. Remember, comics are for kids!

Oh, that guy. Ten bucks says, that he just couldn't pull his eyes away from swinging blue genitals and is now feeling angry about that. I can't wait for more negative reviews to appear here.
