...that being SAW. Truth be told, I think it's time to get over this stupid phobia. I'm not going to put off watching it. I'm just going to dive right in to it. I'll pause it and take a break if I have to, but... I'm going to watch this movie today. Why am I telling you this? I dunno. Blabbering helps me focus. Here I go... I know that feeling. I've been terrified of watching The Exorcist. But then again, that's a real scary movie. Not a gory shit flick. Ahhh..... The classics. I wish they made horror movies like this now adays. It was really scary in the theatre. Now excuse me while I go scream at some kids to get off my lawn.

Hmmm...Maybe I should add SAW to my shitty, overhyped movie night.

I've never watched it, but that's seriously the vibe I get off of it. And don't get uppity with me for not watching! It's not MY fault it's never on. >_>

As for the DVD, well maybe if you have an in home theatre, but it's no where near as scary on a regular old CTR TV.

And I don't really want to buy a DVD of some old movie I'm not particularly interested in. Could rent it, though...maybe.

We have all 5 movies in director cuts, and we both enjoy them. I've become a big fan of Hoffman, to the point where I plan to go to the theater for VI and cheer him on.

There's a problem with the "Just Fucking Google It" idea: I don't want to read Wiki's page on the guy that's probably over 9000 characters long. I don't want to sift through paragraphs of "plot" information regarding Saw. I want a short, concise answer from someone who knows the character, & is not going to bore me to death. As such, I didn't read any of the links. No one HAS to answer, but if I don't do a search beforehand, it's obviously because I'm way too fucking lazy.

Hoffman's a detective who worked secretly with Jigsaw and later took over his work after Jigsaw's death. Basically, Hoffman's sister was murdered and the killer got a slap on the wrist. Hoffman kidnapped the guy and set him up in a Jigsaw trap with no escape. Jigsaw found out and blackmailed Hoffman into helping him, but after a while, he started agreeing with what Jigsaw was doing and took a similar (though slightly more brutal) mindset. He shows up for a short time in the third movie and more-so in VI and V.

The first one was amusing in its own little way. The rest are just a retarded indulgence of the fantasies supposedly-civilised people come up with when conversation turns to media figures no-one would censure them for going medieval upon. Think about it. Victims who have transgressed some social more their abuser has taken exception to...overwhelming lust for vengeance...creative and sickening use of gore in place of due process...it's pretty much a fantasy for vast numbers of idiotic 'people-who-im-glad-have-no-say-in-the-judicial-process'

Not seen the sequels, but Saw isn't a bad film. It's not a classic and not something I'd be rushing to watch again, but I'd file it more as a watchable film that happens to be a gore-fest than a gore-fest that happens to be watchable, or a gore-fest that's so bad I spend more time laughing than cringing (Hostel 2, I'm looking at you).

The way I see it, the idea would be good in 1, MAYBE 2 films. But it's certainly gone overboard by now.
Malicious: What...the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck?
