Ok, something I just have to ask. Why is it that a phrase can be the most classical religious fundie statement in the world, but if you replace the words for whatever spiritual beings with the word "aliens", everybody says it has to be CSTDT instead of FSTDT?
Including aliens doesn't automatically make it a conspiracy. If you say "aliens created the world using only a cheese grater" the only difference between that and "my personal deity created the world using only a cheese grater" is the class of being. If the second is considered fundie, why not the first?
Since when did alien automatically equate to conspiracy?

Because the "classic" alien believer is a traditional conspiracy theorist, at least for the last 40 years or so anyway. Pretty much anything to do with aliens is mentally assigned to the conspiracy bin along with Roswell, crop circles, MIB, Reptillians, and grey aliens. Over the years there has been so many conspiricies reported about aliens that now any mention of them is pretty much automatically relugated to conspiratard territory.
You do have a point though, but it is one about how people think based on previous exposure to differing ideals. Why is it that everytime I submit a quote about PETA it is instantly voted down, aren't they fundie? Aren't they actually extremely fundie and absolutely crazy in their ads? Yet they get voted down...go figure...

Of course you're right - they are equally fundie according to our definition of fundiness.
I think that people just assume that the people talking about aliens are conspiracy theorists, because... Well, they usually are. People who say that aliens have done something or another usually also say that the government is keeping this information from us, regardless of if it includes cheese graters or not.
Of course that doesn't mean that the quote should go in CSTDT instead of FSTDT if it's a quote filled with fundiness. I'm just saying that that's probably the reason why people say things like that.

That's a good point, I'd never thought about that before.
Just ad-libbing an explanation here, but I guess it might be because a.) it is difficult to really be fundamentalist about alien theories simply because there are no clear fundamentals, b.) Almost all serious belief in aliens is as part of a conspiracy theory and c.) just pure stereotype.
Personally, I think that a lot of alien quotes are conspiracy theorists, but since the majority of those that aren't lack real fundaments, they tend to get lumped in with CTSTDT by association.

I think some of their goals are laudable, but they go way overboard in both policies and tactics.) IIRC, at one time, the previous incarnation of FSTDT had a "please support animal rights" link at the top of the main page that went to PETA, though I think it was changed to the ASPCA after some requests from members.

Anecdote. Not Intended to Derail:
I was once ranting to my wife about aliens. "If they have science and technology beyond our imaginations, and have mastered interstellar flight, why is it they communicate by forming patterns in grain crops, mutilating livestock and subjecting people to anal probes?" She said, "Maybe they're teenagers."

*laughs* Your wife, sir, is awesome. ^-^
Also, that almost sounds like a Hitchhikers' reference.

Pointlessly thirded, there's a reason I think PETA needs to be disbanded.
