Personally I think the very existence of fundies is ammunition against fundies, but having more is always enjoyable.

I guess we see so many of the nut-jobs on here, we start to forget that rational Christians exist.

I will admit it, I forgot that rational Xians existed. And that was my gravest mistake. I hope this remedies it in some small fashion.

That was a very eloquent piece of writing, I think it's most endearing quality is that it is simply asking for calm reflection on the topic - it was nice to read something logical that considers both sides before making a statement. I think part of the statement (repeated below) also echoes some of the sentiment from this forum in the flame and burn section - most people don't have a problem with open debate provided it doesn't follow this line: "We’re hard on our scientists, we doctrine and dogma-driven Christians–we who sometimes use religion as a form of control. We who parrot the party line without stopping to think what we’re saying or why. Galileo felt the wrath of our kind in his time. Quick to condemn, slow to apologize for getting it wrong." Pleasantly surprising, thanks stormwarden for the post

Wow, a rational evangelical christian pastor on the internet. Mother of fuck these guys are rare. I must say it's a nice breath of fresh air.

This is really, just really great. Sometimes you need reminding that not everyone hates.

Paradox- Good catches, all. It is nice to remind ourselves that not every preacher is an enemy.

The minister is less dogmatic than I tend to be. His essay brightened my day.
