So long as it can make a good bowl of nachos and a half decent pizza, I don't give a shit.

Just so long as the computer doesn't get taken over my an evil, malevolent entity you should be set, then. If it does.... Well, "Why do I smell almonds?" will probably be your last words.

I'd be happy with a shuttlecraft. It'd make getting to work much easier and no one would cut me off (those things have phasers too, right?).

Replicator = instant economic explosion. That wouldn't matter so much if everybody had access to them, but if it ends up being one of those "five wealthiest kings of Europe" things as ultranew technology often does, we're all screwed.

There would still be power consumption though, so the economy would actually become based around energy production even more than it's based around oil now. Unless, of course, they can violate conservation of energy and just create more fuel that it requires fuel to make it with, in which case economy would become a meaningless term and only those who can maintain them would have power.

Or if one could produce massive amounts of clean, efficient (I'm talking 100% efficiency, here) power. The antimatter reactor could be this, and do this. There's a metric fuckton of power bound up in something as simple as mere oxygen, more than enough power than what would be needed to sustain the reaction. That and, if I remember correctly, a reactor like this could, theoretically, last thousands of years.
LHC for the win, baby!

You can never reach 100% efficiency, as there's always energy lost somewhere. Antimatter reactions, from what I've read, could really only reach around 50% efficiency as there's a lot of energy lost in the form of neutrinos. Now, if we're talking about fusion ignited by lasers, then while it still won't necessarily be that efficient it'd still produce much more power than required to start the fusion reaction, and it's fuel is cheap and safe. I wouldn't try saying such a reactor could last thousands of years, nor would I say a reactor of any type could, simply because of mechanical breakdown, wear and tear, etc, but cheap, non-polluting power is definitely a good thing.

Then the time has come to pioneer a new, awesome sci-fi series: Neutrino Police.

What about an Emergency Medical Hologram?
Very useful - especially when your ship gets overrun by the Borg. Just conjur up the old Holodoc and tell him to "do something"...
No, wait...

I wanna know why they never got the idea to use replicators to mass produce projectile weapons. Nothing says "Fuck off, Borg!" quite like a twelve gauge slug to the face. Or, if you want to be able to go through more than two Borg per shot, a .50 cal AP round...
Though I guess clean up with either weapon could prove to be a REAL bitch.

Well, Picard kinda did that in First Contact, but it was a holographic Thompson with the safeties turned off.
