This reminds me of the movie final destination, he survived a harrowing landing of his plane Saturday when both the front tires blew out then came off. Then Sunday morning his wife found that he had died in his sleep overnight, at least it seems that he went peacefully and un-awares. His wife has said he reported feeling poorly saturday night and that he recieved a blow to the head from falling luggage during the landing.
He had finally reached an unheard of pinnacle in his trade with the Discovery Channel series "Pitchmen" with both he and Andrew Sullivan showing the behind the scenes of the "Infomercial" game. I have to say that I really liked the show and liked trying to guess which products they would select to pitch and then how those products would do.
Billy was arguably the best pitchman in America and seemed to really enjoy what he did, it is sad that he had to go at only 50. Still in showbiz there is something to be said for going out at the top of your game, and he certainly succeeded at that.
My sincere condolences to his wife and the rest of his family.

WHAT
NO!
I don't care what anyone else says, Billy Mays was awesome. Oxyclean were some of my favorite commercials ever, much to the confusion of everyone else I know. Why is everyone dying this month?

What's with all the death lately? It's getting tedious. LISA: Bart, I feel like I'm gonna die! BART: We're all gonna die, Lis. LISA: I meant soon! BART: So did I.

HI, BILLY MAYS HERE FOR NOT BEING ALIVE!
Yeah, my wife didn't think it was funny either. I am also saddened by it.

Mays had been in a rough plane landing the day before and had some luggage fall on his head, which lead to speculation that his death was caused by head trauma, but the autopsy report just came out, and it was a simple heart attack, caused by a blocked artery. No head trauma was found.
Somewhere up in heaven, Jesus is getting a demonstration of how to get his robes extra white.

My condolences to his family and fans. Obnoxious as I found him to be, I'm sure he was loved by many. (Why, I'll never know -- oh well.)
Wait... does this mean they'll stop airing those godawful commercials?

I would actually expect an uptick in the commercials for awhile. Companies like Telebrands (who represents most of the products he used to pitch) are fairly shady and about a half step from carnival pitchmen. So, I imagine they will try to air as many of his commercials as they can for awhile in hopes of getting sympathy dollars. And if they are ever called on it, they will say that the time had already been purchased, etc.
Although, they may surprise me and pull his commercials completely for a month or so out of respect.
Much as I actually liked Billy Mays, he was associated with the bottom feeders of the advertising industry. As someone else noted, he seemed like a regular guy doing a job he was good at.

Billy may have been loud, but he had this honest, wholesome vibe going. Hell, he managed to sell us on the cleaning power of OXYGEN. He will be missed. He also doesn't have that I-was-kicked-in-the-face-by-a-horse-as-a-child thing Vince does. That guy creeps the hell out of me.
