So, I write. Before it was always a hobby, something I did when I really wanted to, but now I've reached the point where I need to train myself to sit down and just write for several hours without distraction. Unfortunately, I'm easily distracted and I've discovered that I can't concentrate while listening most music with lyrics.
So, if anyone could recommend me some good music without lyrics or understandable lyrics I would very much appreciate it. I already have a lot of classical, so unless it's rare I probably already have it. Foreign music is good. Jazz is good. Blues. Techno. Anything. Just as long as it isn't weather channel music I'm willing to give it a try.
Thanks.

I've been waiting for this! "runs off to find music journal."
Self Esteem Fund from the video game Portal(real chill...)
The Art of War from Team Fortress 2{percussion up the arse)
Playing With Danger from Team Fortress 2(like something from an exploitation movie)
Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson(nice electric guitar thingamajig of awesome)
Asturias by Isaac Albeniz(sp?) which is a nice long pretty acoustic guitar wank.
All I Know Is Tonight by Jagga Jazzist(nice jazzy...)
Moya by Godspeed You! Black Emperor(nice, if a bit somber classical piece)
Icarus and Sodium Sonnet, both by Trash80(chiptune, very catchy)
The End Begins To Rock from God of War 2(self-explanatory)
Theme of Laura from Silent Hill 2(very rousing, very moving)
Devil May Sly from God Hand(ROCK OUT!!!)
Absoloutley anything from the Myst games (except the out of place Peter Gabriel song in the fourth.) It the most ambient and relaxing music I have ever heard.
Rave On from Killer 7(awesome techno piece)
Gene's Rock-a-Bye from God Hand(like saloon background music, James Bond music, and surfing music rolled into one.)
All songs available on YouTube.

Moya, and by extension Godspeed You! Black Emperor is so not classical.
But yeah there's post-rock, which is GY!BE, Explosions in the Sky, MONO and a ton more. Post-metal, like Pelican and Russian Circles, and meo-neo-classical like Olafur Arnalds. You choose.
Explosions in the Sky:
Pelican:
Russian Circles:
Olafur Arnalds:
Clint Mansell:
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis:
Dirty Three
(whore-warning)

Eh. Here's some more.
One Winged Angel from Final Fantasy VII. The lyrics are simply Ominous Latin Chanting.
Hamburger Lady by Throbbing Gristle. The lyrics are distorted and indecipherable, and it is fucking horrifying.
The Gang of Venice from God Hand
Saravejo by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Space Ocean from Half-Life
Nova Prospekt from Half-Life 2
Yeah...I like video game music. Sorry for the mistake there, Ganja.

One Winged Angel. Technically has lyrics, but they're in Latin.
If there's a show or a game or whatever that has a song you like, you could also nab it.

Anything from Hyperdub Records. Or indeed, anything from predominantly instrumental labels like Warp or Kranky, but all the same.

Apocalyptica - Most of their songs are instrumental and they are very good.

Mannheim Steamroller's "Fresh Aire" series, especially number five.
In fact, that sounds like a good idea, right now.
* Hooks up iPod to speakers.
Aaahhhh...
Okay, its not strictly instrumental. Tee opening has Latin chanting.
