Due to a certain jackass continually harassing me, and breaking the "don't be a dick" rule, I'd like to suggest that we incorporate a feature that allows us to ignore selected members.

"a certain jackass."
This is your idea of being mature, I take it?

Not naming names.

Outside of F&B anyway....

Outside of F&B anyway.... Yeah, true, I just thought I'd keep this thread... neutral. The fact that the person in question went out of their way to post here just proves my point.

And now I'm afraid I must DISagree. These posts are far from neutral.
An ignore feature isn't entirely a bad idea, but it wouldn't stop you from seeing quotes. It's far more effective just to--y'know--ignore them. Even thought it can be difficult, at times, unlike RR, you aren't forced to interact with anyone here.

In order to actually avoid the person in question, I'd have to leave the site completely, as this person has made it their little hobby to follow and insult me from thread to thread. I shouldn't have to leave the site because of ONE person's irrational hatred of me.

I will confess, when people make it a point to follow me around a site & bitch at me, my first reaction is to consider leaving. However, the only one I can see doing this to you is Amaranth, and YES, you can ignore her. You can just not read her posts. At the same time, you do realize plenty of people have been telling her to knock it off, right?

Simply put, no.
If you can't deal with someone here, who isn't violating the rules at least, I'd say screw off before I'd give the ignore ability. Ignore annoys the crap out of me, can't customize reality to your needs, if someone gets really out of line they get booted. If people just THINK they're being evil for some reason I generally like to keep them around till that nice smell of hypocrisy kicks in.
But, given I've noted where this came from, I'll be making a stop in your F&B thread shortly.

I'm also not really fond of ignore/block features. I think they're damn stupid & frequently, someone would rather block you than continue a discussion.
Then again, there are [rare] occasions where even I find them useful.

Not like it makes a difference, really, since anyone who's spent five minutes on the boards lately knows who you're talking about. In any case, manual ignore. Just scroll past any post by "a certain jackass," it's not like they are hard to identify, they have her name at the top...

Eh, true.
Just thought it might cut down on the drama a bit.

Something else that might help: The next time you refer to this instance, say "a certain someone," or just skip that portion entirely & go, "I've been thinking...."
