I was about to submit this quote:
when I saw that there was a shortened version that apparently got voted down or deleted, that showed up before I confirmed the submission:
The one submitted by Porter doesn't show up in the search (yet it does have a Fundie Index of 13 ), so I assume it was voted down or deleted.
John Copeland's declaration that DNA is vile and offensive was further down in the article and maybe Porter didn't see it or think to add it to the first quote.
Is it wrong to submit the longer version of the quote? Will it just get voted down again? Will I be banished forever for attempting it?
It seems that declaring DNA to be vile and offensive and that God intended to hide it from our eyes pushes it over the line to fundie territory, but that might be just me. Thoughts?
[about a sculpture representing the DNA double helix on the campus of UC-Berkeley]
“My daughter suggested that it was funny,” said John Copeland, whose 7-year-old daughter attends summer camp there. “She shouldn’t be talking to me about this. Now I’m forced to explain genetics to her, and why the Bible doesn’t say anything about it.”
“There are 1000 kids in the school that are going to be exposed to it,” he said. “It’s vile and offensive, and kids have no business seeing what God thought fit to hide from our eyes.”
