I cannot use an ipod since none of the two thousand some-what songs on our computer are not the correct format (or something like that). So I have a Sony Walkman. It's a pretty good Mp3 player though. Better than the last two cheapo's I had.
I used to have one of those when I was a girl. I used to carry it on my bike to my friends house so we could listen to it together.

Honestly, I miss the option to load non-MP3/MP4 files onto my player, but it's not insurmountable. Depending on what you want todo with yourself. Most of my files were already MP3 to begin with, so it didn't much matter to me. There were some boombox-looking deals on Amazon when I was trying to find my Mom a new CD player for her kitchen...Dunno if that helps anyone.

I love my ipod, it's an absolute beauty and it's worked for like 2 1/2 years now. I drop it all the time and it's great. Little 4 gb nano. My Zune, on the other hand, not so great. It's a good MP3 player, better sound quality than apple stuff, but I really, truly despise the Zune software. I abandoned my Zune for that one reason. I update it once every other month, because the software is THAT bad. Itunes works pretty well for me (aside from losing my entire library once). Also, I've never had a problem taking files off my ipod - there's an option in itunes (something like "enable disk use") which makes it easy. The music's in a hidden folder, but finding and transferring that's easy.

Creative Zen. I've got the Zen V-Plus 4 gig. It is win. There's newer and better out. So yeah. Creative Technologies is the way to go.

I had a 4g iPod Nano for four years and it never gave me a single bit of trouble despite me dropping/losing/generally lugging it, and 4g was more than I ever actually used. The only reason I'm not using it now is I won a 32g iPod Touch that, quite frankly, may be the reincarnation of Jesus. I love it for the WiFi capabilities, its practical calendar and alarms/timers, the ton of free apps you can get (I've got various newspapers, flashcards, and a countdown that I love right now).
Apparently, the new Zune can do all of this as well, but having never used one, I can't say much.

I've got a Cowon A2. I'd gladly get an A3, S9, or D2+.

Even the stuff I listen to most frequently takes up like 40 GB. ...no, I'm not an obsessive music geek...Why do you ask?

Oh well, I'm happy with my little Mp3 player.

...The headphone jack on my iPod Touch is fucked, meaning I had to downgrade back down to my iPod Classic.
...I wasn't happy.
