I personally like LINux the best as it is free and much more stable and secure than WIndows. Also what do you guys think about open source

I had to admit that when XP came out, and once it was patched properly, that it is a solid OS, and most of my games are developed for Windows machines. Unless you want to believe that it's all developed on Macintosh and then ported to Windows.
It's also not as simple as Mac/Windows/Linux. Linux is divided into several different kinds, and it does have to be taken into account.
Ubuntu is solid and well-maintained, but it can be almost as bloated as XP, and there are a number of apps that run buggy, but they're part of the "trusted" repository. If some of these developers could do a bit more with their bugs, I think that Ubuntu, especially being free, is attractive and about half the weight of Vista.
I like Vector for a distro. It's lighter than even the ligh versions of Ubuntu, it's just as solid and almost as up to date, however, I cant run anything newer than Diablo 2 for games.
I tried Damn Small Linux. It works okay if you want to run something like a Net-book. The repo is old, and it gives me the impression that the developers don't really care about integrating new changes to their kernel.
I also tried Tinycore Linux, a 10MB distro. Although it may seem like a great idea to run an entire operating system on a flash drive, I ran into the same problem as I did with DSL. The files are a bit old and the newer version doesn't run on older machines, which is what I wanted to do with it because I was aiming at running Linux/WINE/Diablo 2 as well as a native Win98 install.
EDIT: I am quite certain that if Ubuntu were as popular as Windows, there would be plenty of hacks developed for it.

I'm of the opinion that every OS is flawed and that none are perfect, just that some are better for certain tasks than others. I have XP, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but so many programs are written with it in mind. Also, even if I have and like OpenOffice, I much prefer Microsoft's Excel over any other spreadsheet program. Plus, I can download programs that and open .rar files, something I that doesn't seem to exist for Ubuntu. At least, Oriet hasn't found anything that works yet and I've found multiple programs that work for me.
Although I have found I like the actual interface for Ubuntu and it does seem to run at a cooler temperature, which is always nice.

Windows XP. It gets the job done and most everything is made for it. Its only "hard" or "virus-prone" if you're an idiot.
Oh, and Vene, if I could find some specs for the RAR archive structure, I might be able to make something that can crack it open. I think Qt can do Ubuntu...

I have XP, and it works perfectly well for me. It has problems but so many programs are designed for Windows that it easily overcomes its flaws. I've never seen most of the problems from the Mac commercials either.
OSX has been good the few times I used it, if a bit unpractical desktop design IMO.
I'll be trying Linux, probably Ubuntu, once I get a new computer and my life doesn't depend on my laptop.

And please don't get butthurt over these guys poking some fun at your favorite kernel! It's a piece of comedy, and if you have to take it seriously and can't laugh at yourself, then I'll be happy to do it for you.

I run Windows 7 on my desktop as it is a gaming rig, I also have a MacBook with OSX, then I also have an old computer that has Linux on it, but I'm not sure which one, maybe SuSE but I don't run that often.
