I heard the name of some classical musician on TV. It was said as "Vagner" in relation to a Russell Crowe role as a Nazi, which looks interesting, on a Biography episode of same actor. Is Wagner pronounced Vagner, or are they two different people? Google gives me conflicting results. I know Wagner was a favourite of the Third Reich, but I get a song title in search for "Vagner" that I don't at all for Wagner. I barely remember that I might have learnt a long time ago that Wagner was pronounced "Vagner", but I don't know.

In German "w" has the sound value of "v" in English. "Vagner" (long "a") is correct.
