I figured I may as well ask you guys with my problem. Every 5 minutes, my computer's connection malfunctions and I have to go through the tedious process of pulling a stubborn cable out, and plugging it back in. It gets very annoying, as you likely would imagine. But that's exactly what I need help with; I can't figure out the source of the problem, other than that it's something with the connection. Can someone help?
EDIT: I just had to do it twice since I posted this thread! HELP!

Not that great with networking. You tried resetting your DSL or cable modem? Often times that fixes problems.

Ok so. I'm presuming you've got some sort of ADSL connection or similar, yes?
It sounds like your modem is losing sync. There's a few causes for this, but by and large they centre around line noise and bad physical connections. Start with the obvious/replaceable and work your way out. Check if you are remaining connected to the modem/router first, in order to see what "side" the problem lies on. If the connection is dropping between computer and modem, perhaps replace the network cable, or check your network card (I've seen a similar thing being caused by a badly seated net card, running away with heat, and then when the lead was taken out and put back in, the force reseated the card enough to work for five minutes). If the connection's stable as far as your modem, try changing your ADSL filters. Those things appear to shite the bed at the drop of a hat.
Beyond that, check your ISP's site do see if they're doing any work in your area. I was driven scatty for a week or more before realising that those fellas digging the road with BT jackets on might have something to do with it. Phone the telco as well to have the line tested at the exchange.
If that doesn't isolate the cause, it's probably physical damage to your incoming phone line, which is a little beyond my experience. Hope some of that sorts it.

I had a feeling that it was the modem. My brother seems to get the idea that it's caused by 4chan, though. Any credibility to that?

Seriously doubt it. The odds it could be malware or suchlike fucking with a modem are pretty long.
Resisting dick joke.....resisting dick joke...

Got an old computer you can hook in to test the problem? Your ADSL modem isn't sitting on a heater, right?

No and no. Either way, it's in the shop now for a somewhat unrelated reason. Stupid antivirus deleted "infected" system 32 files.

Before I can help you I will need some information. Simply put, go to:
start-->run type in 'cmd' type in ipconfig -release then ipconfig -renew
If that does not work go to Start->Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Device manager Do you see any icon with a small yellow '!' or red x?

Err... It's in the shop. I'm only able to post this because I'm on my mom's computer. :S But I guess I'll check when it's back in...

Also of note: Make sure your modem has good ventilation. The hotter any computerized device gets, the worse it will perform.
Oh, and before I forget, make sure the connections between the cable and plugs are good, you might need some reading glasses depending on the size of the plugs and how good your eyes are.
