Is anyone else planning on participating in Nation Novel Writing Month? www.nanowrimo.org/This is my first year attempting it, and I am pretty excited. Let's be writing buddies! My author name is Kaydon_the_dinosaur

I promised myself last year I would do it, but I broke my promise to myself

I want to participate this year, but I have family coming down for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Given that my brother needs internet access for his job (he's a college professor now), this means I won't have consistent access to the computer. And since the library and campus will be closed, those are out of the question as well.

I'm doing it. I did it last year and it turned out okay-ish, so I figured if I actually had a plot and characters beforehand I might actually make something to be proud of.

I really really want to do this, but the problem is I suck at writing. Or at least writing interesting stuff, I mean over the past week I've been writing a grammar, but that is dry as all hell for anyone except me.

I did it once, back on '05 or '06. Since then I've been completely unable to do it - my job's busiest month just happens to be November. And by "busiest" I mean the vacation calendar has "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" in 72pt. bold, italicized, and underlined font for the entire month.

I'll give it an unofficial try this year. When I'm at my best, writing-wise, I can do about 5000 words a day, but there's no guarantee I'll be able to muster that this year. Especially with my computer being out of commission.

I think I'll try this year. :3 I've heard about it, and I'd love to try my hand at writing again. When I was a kid I wrote a novel, which wasn't exactly the best work out there, but it was great for a 10 year old.

Having discovered that it started a week ago, I think I should probably give it a miss this year. Also, much as I know NaNoWriMo usually wants it to be utterly spontaneous, I'd still rather have a strong premise going into it.

When I was a kid I wrote a novel, which wasn't exactly the best work out there, but it was great for a 10 year old. When I was five I wrote a fourteen-chapter book about rabbits who traveled the world on a helicopter made of palm trees. Each chapter was a page long. Most of the page was taken up with an illustration. I can't draw rabbits. Large parts of the plot were clearly stolen from Watership Down. I am a dreadful author.

I've had something of a breakthrough, at least.
For the past few years, my parents have gotten me a single big-ticket item each year (such as a DVD boxed set or a Game Boy Advance) and a few smaller odds and ends (like books and ornaments).
Late last month, when NaNoWriMo came up, I convinced my mom that - as both a writer and a college student - it's to the point where my not having consistent access to the computer during the holidays (such as Thanksgiving and Christmas) or whenever family comes down is starting to be a liability; I need a machine in order to write, do homework, and complete my paid surveys, but my oldest brother and his wife tend to hog the desktop.
Originally, I was simply asking her to keep an eye out for any notebooks or netbooks that might be on sale for Black Friday this year; I make enough now to where if I can find one cheap I can pay it down in short order. Instead, she's offering to pick one up for me and call it my Christmas gift.
So while this year's NaNoWriMo is largely a lost cause, I can at least do next year.

Since my last post, I have tripled my word count....to 3,094. Go me.
That said, I have this planned as a web serial and at this rate I'll either have to release installments on a yearly basis or start releasing them in twenty-six years' time...
