I say let them do it. Hell, put all the news networks on it, and let them spew their shit live for the world to see. The nation deserves to see how deranged the far right has become. Ditto. And I hope they yell loud and clear that they're going to be arrested for saying what they're saying... and then don't get arrested.

What the flying fuck ever happened to "Render unto Ceasar..."

I am going to laugh so hard when nothing happens to them but yet they'll be thumping their chests and patting each other on the back about how courageous they are.
Its funny and pitiful at the same time.
Do they not realize that many pastors currently say horrible things about women, ethnic minorities and the disabled already and suffer no legal ills from it?

So, are these pastors aware that this law only applies if you actually commit a crime against a gay person, like assault? They can still hate gay people all they want, they can tell anyone they please how horrible gay people are, they just can't commit crimes against them because they are gay. No...they're not aware of that. They just believe that it's their speech and thoughts tat are now criminlized. Ironbite-it's very pathetic if you ask me.

What the flying fuck ever happened to "Render unto Ceasar..." I actually heard a Fundie explanation for this, one time. "'Render unto Ceaser what is Ceasar's...' but nothing belongs to Ceaser. Everything belongs to Jesus. So render nothing."

Apologies for the going slightly OT, but over here in Oz a law has been passed that allows religious groups and churches, who's dogma is anti-gay (etc), to actively discriminate against said groups should they apply for jobs/aid/funding. I find this type of thing utterly sickening. Religious groups used to be about looking after the little person, about giving aid and offering love (at least sometimes and in somepleces, at least if you followed the rules). Now, it seems that the magic sky-pixie is only interested in making sure that those who don't belong are actively made to suffer whenever it is in the power of its followers. Now on the plus side, such discrimination can be challenged, but it will only be overturned if it can be shown that the religious dogma doesn't support such actions. So, they can only be anti-gay if the sky-pixie has said so. Something has gone very wrong when religions will actively fight for the right to hate, rather than spend time trying to love. But that might entail effort, no?

Its funny and pitiful at the same time. It's like a very small dog barking furiously at something like a mastiff, that's locked securely in a pen and not even paying attention to it.

Everything belongs to Jesus. So render nothing." Makes one wonder why Jesus bothered to ask about whose face was on the money and say "Render unto Caesar" if he could've just said "Fuck Caesar" and it'd have been much clearer. Do they actually enjoy making their allegedly perfect Messiah look like a dishonest, deceiving prick? Who am I kidding, of course they do.

To me all of this ranting and raving about how they won't be able to have anti-gays thoughts/opinions when it has been clearly explained what the difference between having those thoughts is and committing a hate crime is easily explained. They WANT people to go out and hurt/harass homosexuals based on the filth they spew. My opinion is that they are basically admitting that to them they see their preaching as tantamount to hate crimes because they want people to go out and do something awful based on their preachings.

Wouldn't that then make them guilty of attempt to incite a riot?

Wouldn't that then make them guilty of attempt to incite a riot? Sure. Go commit a crime (to them gays are subhuman, so n remorse from bashing them), then get charged with a pre-existing law that has nothing to do with gays, then cry persecution.

What the flying fuck ever happened to "Render unto Ceasar..." Or this: “If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?” -- 1 Corinthians 6:1 NIV
