I had a recently homeless elderly diabetic woman on my porch a few nights ago after she'd been out in the cold for four hours, not knowing what to do and my house was the only one with a light on, I ended up giving her and her brother a ride across town to get to a relative who could put them up for the night. She kept mentioning being a good Christian woman, to try and assure me she wasn't dangerous (she wasn't.), and I just didn't have the heart to tell her that a) I wasn't a christian and b) that didn't really mean anything to me. Aw, that was sweet of you. Though I always tell the people I do something good for that I’m an atheist (er, if it comes up. I don’t just randomly announce it) They typically have a set idea in their heads, obviously, of what Christians and non-Christians act like. However, the more they experience non-Christians who act positively, the more they’ll see that not all non-Christians adhere to whatever negative stereotypes they have of us.

I don't tell them what i believe or don't believe unless they ask. Otherwise i just let it go in one ear and out the other as long as the good deed gets done. I had one of the newer guys at work tell me I was a good servant of God for being nice to him. I basically said i was an atheist, and the reason i'm nice is because I've experienced bad things, why should I inflict badness and negativity on others for no reason? After all, I was a newbie out there at one point, I know how cold people there can be, so i try to help out where i can with others under me to make sure they enjoy what they can of their job

I don't know either, but I like it. Yes, it does sound rather epic, doesn't it? "Kicking ass and taking names... IT'S STEALTH PENGUIN!"
