What's wrong with the people on the admin pages? I've seen things that are plenty fundie have a lot of "no" votes.

Fundie in what way?
Fundie in that they are just religious people saying what they believe, but nothing really weird... or Fundie in that they are people coming out with some seriously wacky crap that is removed from reality?
If it's the first one... they are NOT fundie at all... and the guidelines are there to stop the crap getting through.

Lets explain, you have to understand, that your new and I'm a little older, what I mean is, the old public admin was like GUH! - Any quotes got edited names etc, deleted.
- Any youtube, deleted,
- Any same old stuff, which isn't funny at all any more, deleted.
- Even RR can be deleted too, and other sites,
We're only trying to make people laugh as for the word 'Darndest' therefore funny. Meaning that, quotes are throughly checked, and be glad you're getting any. Complain, but it's not easy, all of the public admins, do the work constantly, to keep fundieness in and same old out. We look for unique but also funny or if it's not unique, but god I wanna kill them... Well you get idea. Please ask a mod next time, as this question wasn't needed.

What was that about? I've been with FSTDT for quite some time. I know how admin works, and I know how it was before.
"Darndest" can also mean just silly. It doesn't have to be "laugh out loud." And why can't the quotes be scary and depressing, too? They're still "darndest" things to say.
I am in public admin, you know.
I understand taking out things that aren't fundie. But I've seen many unique and funny things be deleted, for no good reason.
Isn't this the FSTDT discussion board? If it is, this is the place for the question. And it was needed. What if others wondered the same thing?

How about you present some examples of things that are getting deleted that you believe deserve to make it to frontpage? If you can't find any examples in PubAd, feel free to make up a hypothetical quote that you would pass that's similar to ones you see people voting to delete.

I am in public admin, you know. Barely, in fact, as of a few days ago you're now the highest approval percentage(and count) member who retains the rights to use public admin. I've read through a lot of these quotes, and most of them suck. Some of what's getting voted down is kinda amusing, and I've gone against the flow a few times in my own voting(I'm slightly above average with my own approvals). But, much of what's getting shot down is covered by the guidelines. A few more decent ones are getting through thanks to Renae's tenacity in checking public admin and actually modifying the quotes which are entered with bullshit attached, which otherwise I'd have said vote down. Right now I'm doing my own estimates on what a rough idea of how many of the quotes are loosely approve worthy, and trying to manuver the overall percentage of approvals to that point. As such I removed public admin rights from two guys who had more approvals, and a higher percentage of them as their actions total than you did, simply because they skewed my numbers so badly that I could introduce a half dozen typical people into the system and they'd still have me far from my rought target. Without them approving every fucking quote that comes in(and there have been a few 'why the fuck did anyone approve this' quotes that I also caught them on, your exception from those is one of the reasons I didn't take yours off), I can get a better read from my numbers, as they aren't skewed by a lot of quotes voted down with 1 or 2 approves on them anyway. I wanted to address why I did it a bit more, but frankly I'm running out of lunch break and I need to finish eating. Headache, Cheese, no, public admin isn't broken, I just wasn't sure my fix to remove your abilities in public admin was going to work. You do however still have the ability to vote and have it counted towards the rankings once I get around to making the top 100 page.

I delete far more than I accept these days.
I generally delete anti-evolution or anti-big bang stuff because it's the same shit over and over just coming from different people.
I generally delete people who are just complaining or expressing their personal ideologies - unless there is a certain ironic and unintended poetic nature to their comment.
I delete any post where the poster has inserted a remark, comment, or personal edit.
I delete anything short of that which makes my eyes roll and my stomach churn.

For those who might be interested, which I doubt, here are a few items which I use to determine deleting a quote.
1, Length. If a quote takes up an entire screen it had better make me laugh through every sentence. If I have to read through a hundrerd sentences and my final response is to shrug and say, "Thats it?". I'm going to delete it.
2, Angry quotes. If the quote is some fundies reply to another forum poster and the fundie is going off about how the other is a "fag", "liberal", "democrat", "Green Earther", or any of a dozen fundie/neo-con buzz words, chances are I'm going to delete it.
3, Old quotes. If I follow the link and see that the quote came from a posting made more then a year ago, I'm going to delete it. Enough gets posted everyday on the various boards that, IMO, we do not need to go digging in the past.
4, Youtube quotes. It had better be self contained. If I have to follow the link and then read through a dozen messages to understand where the quoted was coming from, its deleted.
5, Prayer request quotes. If the quote comes from a request for prayers, chances are I'm going to delete it. Laughing at somebody because some part of their life has gone to shit is, to me, just being mean. Yes, there are exceptions to this rule. However, those exceptions are on a case-by-case bases.
6, News quotes. If it is a cut-and-paste from a paper, tv station, blog, etc. chances are I'm going to delete. If you really think that it is something that should be noticed by us, put it in the proper area of the forums.
7, The long set-up quote. If the submitted quote is shorter then the set up provided by the submitter. Deleted.
8, The repeated quote. I know that there are a number of us watching boards like RR or CARM. But if your quote is the 3rd of 4th repeat of a quote I've already approved, your going to be deleted. Don't care if you quoted the entire paragraph instead of a couple of sentences. Could care even less if you added responses from other members of the board being quoted. I only need to see the original quote once.
Finally, and this is a big factor in helping me decide if a quote gets deleted or not. My whim at the moment of reading the quote. Wish I could say that I'm objective with every quote I read, but I can't. My mood when I sit down to read PubAdmin has as much to do with my choices as the above rules. Catch me when I'm in a good mood, more quotes get approved. Bad mood, more get deleted. Is it fair? NO. Welcome to planet Earth. ;D

I'm rarely around except for Public Admin and yesterday was my first day back in there in a while, so I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. In addition to repeats, long quotes, most youtube crap and statements of belief, I'm also deleting stuff that I've seen time and time again. For example, all of the quotes talking about the evilness of gay people and how they are destroying America, etc, etc, etc. If there is something in there to make it stand out, I let it through, but I see no problem getting rid of fluff that just states the same bigoted shit over and over.
Am I right in this?

As long as you examine for those special new levels of fundie that can be hidden in them, like that WND article about how the game of life did nothing to prohibit putting two little pegs of the same color into the cars.

I'm gonna agree with the OP...I think. Lately, the amount of quotes that are getting through is kind of sad. And WTF on the YouTube thing? Just click "Show all comments" & do a Ctrl+F search. It really isn't that hard. Seriously, after RR & Yahoo Answers, YouTube had the funniest shit that ever made it through. And half the time, Yahoo Answers Fundies get deleted!
On the other hand, I will acknowledge that the quotes that have made it through have been original and funny, for the most part. There aren't as many nauseating, "Yeah, yeah, heard it all before..." quotes.

To be honest, the number of submissions has dropped a hell of a lot more than you might expect. We're approving a larger percentage of what's coming in than we used to, but we're generally lacking in the sheer numbers.
I mean, I can keep up with public admin in about ten minutes a day most of the time. That was not true back before the switch.

The quality of the submissions has improved, though. I'm with the mob when it comes to approval/deletion. I try to delete the ones with extraneous commentary, misspelling/altering the website name/link, those that are too long, or that are simply statements of faith, rather than ridiculous fundy crap. Still, I find that I am approving a higher percentage than I used to, I think. This is due to the fact that the quality of submissions has risen. I still see a few quotes sneak through that shouldn't, though.

I try to delete the ones with extraneous commentary, misspelling/altering the website name/link, For the record, if you guys link us to these or give us the ID number over here: fstdt.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fstdt&action=display&thread=222We can deal with these, modifying the quote either removing commentary, fixing website names and links, or whatever. Renae and to a lesser extent myself hit a lot of these when we find them, and we actually have a pretty extensive list of them in the mod forum. We'd love it if you guys report them before we find them, then they'll be fixed a bit faster as we aren't always sitting on top of public admin. Yea, a few, but at some point we have to remember what we don't find fundy, someone else may scream bloody murder over. Which is one reason I don't play the hand of mod card very often in public admin.

we aren't always sitting on top of public admin. Speak for yourself, man! ^-^ Seriously, though, I created the reporting threads for a reason. If you like a quote but don't like how it was treated, go ahead and approve it (or abstain if you really feel bad about it), but report it in the provided thread. I'm pretty damn good about staying on top of that (even when I'm told not to be... -_-' ), so please make good use of it! You can also usually catch me in the IRC or via AIM if, say, it's in PubAd and about to get passed or some similar emergency. The reporting threads are your friends. ^-^
