That is actually pretty damned good, I think. It's almost shockingly out of character for him, and I'm sure a good deal of the motivation is not wanting a competing belief system out there. But I'm glad that he's bringing it up and keeping the horrible things being done to child "witches" there in the news. It could really help.

Pretty fucking sad that one of the best things you can say about this guy is "Uh, well... he told people not to kill children and the elderly because of witchcraft!"
Seriously, it's not that impressive. It's just surprising that this idiot said something less than cruel and proudly ignorant for once.
Also, I couldn't help but notice they had a picture of him in the Popemobile. [Funny De-motivational poster's URL has apparently been changed]

Agreed with Sayna. The man would have to fucking cure cancer and AIDS, and invent cold fusion, AND end world hunger in order to even halfway redeem him for all the bullshit he spews. At least he doesn't condone witch trials and just told them to stop... murdering.... their children? o.0

Yay, the Pope is capable of holding an opinion that's not completely abhorrent! Sort of how like they apologised about Galileo a few centuries too late. Sure, it's a nice gesture, but doesn't even begin to redeem them.

And free distribution of said cure to all infected, of course.

No...no he didn't.
Ironbite-if he delievered a thundering sermon about how evil the trials are, then it might begin to make me respect him....but not really.
