Halp!
OK, so here's the thing. Today I got an invitation to a party at New Year's Eve, to which you should show up dressed as some character from a movie. Usually I'm not really one to partake in these fancy dress parties, but for once I thought "What the hell". Especially since I don't really know all too many people there, and everybody seems to be really excited about it, I don't wanna stand out as 'the boring one who couldn't be arsed'.
So... the only problem is, I have no effing clue as to what I should go as. Ish, anyway. At first I thought about making my own Iron Man costume, since nobody would see that one coming (not very popular around these parts). Also, it would be a challenge. But then I realized I might be way over my head, since I only have a week and a half to get something sorted, and I have very little money to spend on the costume. I wouldn't want to take the half-assed path of just putting on a suit and being one of the Blues Brothers or someone from Reservoir Dogs, or some such. And my mind is more or less completely blank at the moment. Can't think of anything that's even slightly unique and/or funny.
So.. any ideas are welcome. The more 80's or 90's stuff, the better. Preferrably, from some really campy movie. Or if anybody has a really good vision of how to make a cheap Iron Man costume fast, and doesn't mind me stealing it. Oh, and if anybody suggests The Crow or someone from The Matrix, I will have to bend the laws of reality and kill you through the internet.
Help plx...

I have no idea what you look like so I have no idea how well this will work out, but you could have a crack at being Marty McFly from the "Back to the Future" series. Since he just wears jeans, a checked shirt, white shoes, a denim jacket, and a down vest you probably already have most of that or could get it fairly easily and cheaply. Or get some safety goggles and a lab coat, whiten your hair with flour, and go as Doc Brown.

If you have the build for it (or can fake it by stuffing your sleeves to make fake muscles), you could go as The Terminator or Conan the Barbarian (or some other Arnold role).
Of course, if you happen to be bearded, or of a nonwhite ethnicity, or something of the sort, let us know, so we won't keep suggesting clean-shaven white-guy roles.

Thanks, people! Some really good ideas in here... I thought about going as The Dude from The Big Lebowski, but I've got short hair and no beard, and I couldn't find the right types in any costume shop on the web either, so... Think I have to scratch that. I also considered going as either Marty or Doc Brown from Back To The Future. But I have to say, the best suggestion yet - and I'm a bit stumped that I didn't think of it myself - is Dr. Zoidberg! =D I'm not sure if there's enough time to make the costume, but I'm tempted to try...
Oh, and if you got more ideas, keep em coming! I've got a pretty normal build. Ish. I'm a tad shorter than the average tho (5'2 if I remember correctly from the thread about stats and models and whatnots), so being some Arnoldy type of character isn't preferred, maybe...

Ooh, thanks! Very nice! In some ways quite similar to what I had in mind, but those are even better! I think this just might work out after all...
