Could you please include a little explanation of your political cartoons for us non-Brits under each one? Most of us know what's happening in America to have context of those ones, but not enough for British ones.

No, he's a Mafia Don because the cartoon's riffing on the idea that the "special relationship" between the US and UK is entirely asymmetrical - that Cameron's the schmuck pleading for a reprieve from the guy with actual power. I have to admit that Steve Bell isn't always quite as apt with his imagery as he should be - in this case, the metaphor's a bit flimsy, unless it turns out that Obama's 1/16th Italian or somesuch. The thing is, he probably can't play on the Irish thing, because the closest equivalent would maybe be Obama as an IRA man, about to kneecap Cameron, and that'd be horrifyingly insensitive and offensive all round. Personally, I prefer Martin Rowson's stuff, such as the one I posted a couple of months back, which managed to cover seemingly everything on the government agenda at once. Attachments:
