That gay-marriage/cousin-marriage one is.... disturbing. I had no idea so many states were okay with that...! I'm actually not clear why it's a problem for other people to marry their cousins. Oh, sure, the whole "genetic mutation!" thing, but that is in fact an irrelevant problem (i.e. the risks are not meaningfully greater) in a single generation. Opposition to cousins marrying, as long as they're both consenting adults and so on, seems to me as much a squick reaction as opposition to gays marrying. I personally wouldn't do it - the Westermarck Effect does its job pretty well - but I don't think I'd care if someone I knew wanted to do so.

Sooner or later gays will get the right to marry: then it's on to incestuous marriage. It'll be weird to be allied to Southern conservatives for once.

My first real-life ship was my cousin and my sister. She was a tomboy and they would terrorize my older cousin and I. I thought they would be a cute couple, especially because they were the same age. I even married them once while we were playing Robin Hood (I was Friar Tuck).
Then I turned six and learned about life. XD

Actually, the move against it is partly based on politics and economics. Traditionally, first cousin marriages were meant to consolidate economic wealth and political power so that they don't become "diluted". It's common in a society with a highly stratified class structure. The reason for being against it, it seems, is to dismantle the power base of one group. Of course there are other factors: genetics (though that's actually only recent), maintaining family cohesion (any type of incestuous relationship is bound to disturb it) and of course squick. Edit: Shorter me: Incest is a relic of class formation.

I went to Gay Pride dressed as Jesus carrying a sign that said "It's okay with me."
I can't find the picture at the moment, though.

I have no idea. Probably a pride parade in the 50s-70s (I can't tell).

I would have thought 50s, too, but I didn't think they had those in the 50s (hello, Red Scare).

The first Pride March was in 1970.

Yeah, in the 70s. The facial hair and the football uniform gives it away.
