I've been experiencing severe stress symptoms for the past week, including but not limited to a three-day case of hives, acid reflux, chest pain, sleep disturbances, tummyaches, headaches, extreme irritability (and rages), and minor hallucinations (? lights and blind spots in my vision).
Yesterday I broke my lamp cover, and though I couldn't see it, some of the plastic melted on the lightbulb, causing a strange cooking-like smell. I tried to air out my room as soon as I smelled it, because I found it unpleasant. I figured out today what it was.
I don't know what the symptoms are of damage caused by toxic fumes, and given my current state, I don't know if I'd notice any new symptoms. What should I look for to determine whether this is an emergency situation?

That's a strange melange of symptoms. Best to see an MD.

I wouldn't worry about it. A little melted plastic isn't going to put out a dangerous amount of fumes.
The other stuff, however does sound rather alarming. Please take care of yourself.

Well nothing in the lamp is going to cause symptoms before it was broken.
Sounds like plain old anxiety to me (I have GAD). It does horrible things to your body, a lot more than you would think possible.

I wasn't very clear... I described the other, existing problems in order to explain why I wouldn't notice new symptoms or would be prone to pass them off as non-related to the burning lamp. Don't worry, I haven't gone so crazy as to extrapolate a causal relationship between old symptoms and new events!

Hey, after Savethebales got through with the Fraser Valley, I went out and bought a bunch of bottled water.

Hey, after Savethebales got through with the Fraser Valley, I went out and bought a bunch of bottled water. What happened with Bales? I suppose you could PM me so as not to derail... or something. AK; do you have extra stress right now or do you feel it is the same but you are feeling less equipped to handle it? You may need a break or some down time but I agree, you should go get checked out. If nothing else to put your mind at ease about what it is or might be. Sometimes it's the not knowing that stresses us out the most. Take care hon.
