My brother sent me this archive devoted to attacks provoked by criticising Twilight.I have only read a few, but these stories are really terrifying. In one, for example, a girl threw acid in a guy's face and stabbed him with a compass.

What the fuck...
I wonder how much can be documented through police reports and such and how much is angsty-pre-teen bullshit though.

WTF? Seriously, WTF? There are lots of books I like (of which that sparkly vampire infested dungheap isn't one) but I wouldn't commit assault over any of them. Takes Fan Dumb to a whole new level.

I've heard about fans attacking each other trying to get to the set where they're filming the second one.
And people thought Beatles fans were crazy.

I don't hate twilight. When I read the books my only reaction was "meh. blah."
Which sometimes for me is even worse than completely hating something. For me it was wangsty teen drivel. Nothing more.
But this is just ridiculous. Obsessions are one thing but actually becoming violent over something this silly is madness.

Ok...time to start the Church of Twilight and become a millionaire... This is...err...disturbing if true.

i almost thought the topic title was "Twilight fans commit suicide"...
Wishful thinking I suppose.
Also to ausador: There's already a group that call themselves Cullenists. It's like Jediism, in that it's a hokey religion based on a movie, but without any redeeming characteristics...
oh, and
Madness?....This! Is! SPARKLE~~~!!!

How do you get to this point?

Holy shit. That's crazy. I know there are fanatically crazy (and sometimes violent) members of every fanbase of EVERYTHING. (Religion, book series, comics, movies.) That's just life. But some things just seem to attract an above-average concentration of LOONIES. Twilight is one of them.
It says something when you're so fanatically defensive of something--if you're actively VIOLENT towards the people who vocally dislike whatever it is that you so love, that sends the message that you're not particularly secure in your passions.

I find that archive to be a completely terrible source. Does anybody have any *real* evidence of this?

I find that archive to be a completely terrible source. Does anybody have any *real* evidence of this? That's how I felt when I saw that pretty much every link was to different threads in the forum. All the evidence we have is that members of the board have claimed to be harrassed/assaulted. I don't think every single story is made up (I read one about a book store employee who got followed around the store by some fangirls because she said Twilight wasn't her thing, which seems fairly plausible to me), but some of them seem a bit outlandish to accept without a news article or something else to back up.
